As a failed German composer, the male protagonist went to Venice to relax after losing his daughter. After meeting the beautiful young Tacchio by chance, he gradually gained a new understanding of life, music and life. I have always disagreed that the male protagonist is a pedophile. His understanding of Tacchio is a kind of admiration and admiration for pure beauty, but his lack of recognition of his own talent, at the end of the film, the male protagonist is in the background of Tacchio under the sun. Ugly death in disguise is an extreme contrast. A large number of eyeless long shots of the surrounding nature or character environment accompanied by a melancholic soundtrack are used as a foil for Tacchio, but they are slightly procrastinated and redundant. In addition, there is a stylized denunciation and criticism of Lucino Visconti for the isolated and corrupt life of the Venetian aristocracy under the plague.
