Going to see "Alice in Wonderland 2: Adventures in the Looking Glass" is like going on a date.
In the midst of the storm, I saw the female captain turn around, revealing her familiar pale cheeks: "Nothing is impossible!" Tears flowed down my cheeks.
Hello Alice, we meet again, Alice, 6 years have passed.
But this kind of empathy carried over from the first film only lasted for about 5 minutes.
Although the cast is the original cast of luxurious cast, but without Tim Burton's "Alice 2", it is like being sucked out of the soul.
"Although I don't know who you are, you are not my Alice", what the Mad Hatter said to Alice shortly after the film started, is also what I want to say to this film.
The original book with many readers, full of big names and powerful special effects blessing, the new director James Bobin has a good hand, or screw it up.
2.
In order to save her old friend, the Mad Hatter, Alice is summoned back to the underground kingdom. She has to go back to the past to save the Mad Hatter's family. To achieve this, she needs to fight against "Time" herself and the Red Queen who ran out to make trouble. .
This is a very typical Hollywood movie narrative structure, and it has the same old-fashioned flavor as the "Dragon Slayer" background setting used by the first Tim Burton.
The core is a story of reconciliation with the family, and it is also a "main theme".
In fact, "Alice" originally had a second part, "Alice Through the Looking Glass".
But that's another story: "Little Alice passes through the mirror into an opposite world. The world is like a giant chessboard, and the White Queen, Red Queen, and Alice who joins are just pawns. Strange verses and metaphors, through The forest will forget its own name, and if you want to stay where you are, you have to run desperately. Alice can't tell if she broke into the dream of King Red Fang, or if they were in her dream."
A story similar to "Zhuang Zhou Dreaming of Butterflies" , unfortunately the director did not invite Nolan.
3.
Now this movie has nothing to do with the original novel except for the name.
Abandoning the original setting and re-creating a story is actually nothing, and the previous director Tim did the same.
He made up a typical Hollywood heroism story, Alice turned into a dragon slayer, chicken soup is not less, "the only way to achieve the 'impossible' is to believe it is possible."
But he in this old-fashioned A sensitive and eccentric core is wrapped in the skin, which looks a little gloomy and bizarre, but instead has a strange fairy tale feeling.
He even chose an Alice without "Alice". Mia was pale and stubborn, completely inconsistent with the usual princess image in Disney fairy tales, and even had a morbid weirdness.
Just like his famous works "Edward Scissorhands", "Zombie Bride" and "Sweeney Todd", the director put a deep personal mark on his works.
It's probably not any Alice in Wonderland because he's Tim's Alice in Wonderland, a story of how to come to terms with yourself, that's why I like the movie more than the original book.
But when it came to Director James, he patronized the story, but did not refine the spiritual core of the original story.
4.
From the perspective of the new story setting, the director's ambition is not small, let a real person perform "time", and try to use the structure of time and space to sublimate the thinking about time and family.
But why do so many people feel immature after reading it? Because the main creative team did not put much effort into the plot structure.
"The past cannot be changed", we have learned from many sci-fi movies, but the director only grasped the appearance, not the inside.
The theme of time travel has very high requirements on the structure of the play. The plot is slowly opened like a big net, interlocking with each other, and the suspense must be sufficient, so that when the net is closed, people will have a "wow" sound and follow. Then came the silence in the face of the "sense of fate".
There is a bit of fun in the movie. Because the Mad Hatter and the Rabbit offended the God of Time, they always stay one minute before the afternoon tea before little Alice comes to the banquet. This is a vague rebate. Wait for Alice to come for afternoon tea.
But other parts were almost completely rescued. Returning to Alice in the past did not change anything, nor did it leave any clues to the future. Each return is like an independent segment, just simply introducing the background in this fragmentary flashback.
5.
Then there is the collapse of the character.
Alice is a weirdo, because she is deviant and unwilling to follow the rules of the world, and she is also a stubborn girl, who decides to do whatever she wants.
But director James turned her into a total lunatic.
At the dinner where her ex-fiancé inherited the title, she planned to discuss with this gentleman, who is also her boss, about developing the Asian market. It turned out that her ex-fiancé took her family's shares and house as his own, and forced her to give up sailing and work as an ordinary clerk in the company.
This girl who has been a captain at sea for 3 years and has an outstanding business acumen actually said without thinking, "Isn't it because I rejected your proposal?"
Isn't this a third-rate idol drama? !
In order to save the dying Mad Hatter (although I don't know why he just found out that his parents might still be alive and suddenly dying), Alice went to the Castle of Time to borrow the super-space magic ball from the God of Time.
When time told her that the super-space magic ball is the source of the world, and if you take it away, it will destroy the entire underground world, she didn't care about the point of this sentence at all, just repeated, "No, I have to save the Mad Hatter, he is me Best friend!"
Isn't it so selfish! Do you have IQ? The world is destroyed, and all your friends will die, what to save!
In the end, she almost killed the god of time and caused the collapse of the whole world, but because of the unreasonable halo of the heroine, she was still honored as the savior of the underground world.
The three views are so chaotic that I feel distressed about the so-called "big villain" time in the plot introduction.
People just keep the world running at home obediently, and occasionally take time to fall in love, but the inexplicable heroine almost destroys the humane and ruins the ancestral inheritance.
The White Queen turned out to be a very interesting figure. Because Hathaway is dead, she looks like the representative of truth, goodness and beauty, but in fact she is hypocritical and contrived. Always showing a very uncontested appearance, in fact, he will use the weaknesses of others to achieve his own goals. Under the bright and lively appearance, he actually has a dark and gloomy side.
Tim Burton never intended to design the battle of red and white as a confrontation between good and evil, but to show you the multi-faceted nature of each image, there is no right or wrong, good or evil, what you see is what you see.
But in this one, the White Queen has simply become a kind and boring Bai Fumei.
The Mad Hatter is a very creepy character, one of the bearers of Tim Burton's gothic fantasy (the other being the Red Queen). But in "Alice 2" he became a stupid and impulsive teenager, middle-aged man.
His seemingly non-existent nostalgia for Alice was destroyed by repeated repetitions of "You are not my Alice", "You are my Alice" and "My Alice will definitely believe me". There is no beauty.
Needless to say, the Red Queen is the most prolific character in the entire movie. But her complexity, naivety, cruelty, hateful and pitiful, all turned into an 8-point supporting actress in this play. "I had an unfortunate childhood, and I hated everyone, but it turns out that you love me, okay, I forgive you." This kind of trend is really blinding Helena's acting skills.
6.
Although I still give one star to the Red Queen. She is vicious and bloodthirsty, and everything she does is just in exchange for a sorry, distressed.
We all thought that this cruel and irritable woman controlled the army dragon and robbed the time machine in order to return to the decisive day and kill the White Queen to reverse the defeat.
But she just dragged her sister back to her original childhood, pointed at her sister who stole the fruit tar and made her take the blame and shouted, "You lied!!" Angrily and triumphant.
How bad can a bad guy who uses vegetables as a prison and likes to eat carrots?
This is probably the most childlike part of the movie.
"No one loves me! None of you love me!" is probably the first reaction in a child's mind when they encounter setbacks.
But this is more than one rank less than "terrifying is better than cute".
Above, "Alice 2" fully verifies the same original lineup and the same team, and how different films can be made by different directors.
