horror of comedy

The climax of comedy is fear.

When Hitler woke up and walked through the crowd, being photographed in various ways, being funny with the newsstand owner, and being teased by the laundromat employees, I laughed out loud.

When Fabian finally pointed the gun at Hitler, I was shaking. I didn't know much about the WWII era, just what was covered in history class. What Ms Bellini said in an interview: "We're fed with the influence of textbooks, students are fed up with this kind of talk, we need more confidence." What is this confidence?

Knowledge of history, and personal knowledge of history; knowledge of human beings, and knowledge of human nature. Just like one exists in the conscious and the other exists in the subconscious, the two are often at odds.

Fabian lacks courage, not even the courage to confess to his girlfriend. On the one hand, we are called to express our love bravely, and on the other hand, we are warned that it is better to restrain our hatred, what asymmetrical pattern this is. From the movie, it can be seen that the Germans did not blame Hitler personally, this is a history made by a nation, and Hitler was just the chosen man.

Nationalism usually becomes mainstream when a nation is persecuted, and modern China is undoubtedly a portrayal. What if it happened in a time of peace? I do not deny that there is still nationalism in modern China, at least on the Internet. The intertwined emotions of envy and resentment against foreign nations make us not wanting to admit it at all.

What exactly do we want from history?
