absurd but special

I wanted to watch this movie at the beginning because of the heroine Stewart.
The tone at the beginning of the film is particularly different. Very absurd.
The male protagonist's setting at the beginning was a waste of firewood, and he often went to the police station. At the same time, he is a guy who likes comics, and the cartoon character Rocket Monkey designed is also impressive.
The story begins with a few foreshadowings. In the subsequent plot, each foreshadowing is revealed, which makes people feel unexpected but reasonable. The dramatic color in the screenwriting is remarkable.
The female agent and CIA villain who appeared after one of the highlights of the film. Agent and absurd are combined. The two characters have been set with distinct character characteristics from the first second of their appearance, which are unreliable and nonsensical. Perhaps the biggest selling point of the film is the rivalry and clumsy abilities between the two agents.
In order to rescue Mike (the male protagonist) who was targeted, the female agent met him at a convenience store. Saying a lot of absurd remarks that make people feel foggy after listening is the biggest laughing point in my image.
But this code word activated the male protagonist's ability. Then the male protagonist turns into a humanoid killing machine. He is good at using various tools around him to cause damage to the agents who came to hunt him down.
Although the male protagonist's fighting power is superior, his mind is still mortal. When the police station was surrounded and suppressed, the male protagonist made various mistakes. The pursuer told him to stop while chasing him, and he really stopped. Also hilarious.
The burning of the police station is a major climax of the whole film. Although the grenade is not too intentional, the explosion is really cool.
The truth slowly surfaced. The male protagonist discovered that his long-term girlfriend was actually his guardian. In an accident, the female protagonist was captured by the CIA. The dusty memory of the male protagonist was opened, and his childishness and stupidity were all revealed.
The whole film is approaching its climax.
The final battle is in the supermarket. Facing the encirclement and suppression of an entire army, the male protagonist made full use of the terrain of the supermarket and the goods of the supermarket. Blood splattered everywhere, and the male protagonist was like no one on the battlefield. The handsome fight scenes make the adrenaline surge.
One of the supporting characters in the film, "Laughter", can't help but laugh every time he appears, but in the end, seeing his desperate laugh after being beaten by the male protagonist is still very distressing. This scene is also a rare tender picture in this film, which adds a lot to the whole film.

In the end, the scene where the male protagonist broke into the battlefield with fireworks was also a hit in the middle school, which satisfies my middle school heart for many years.
The animation of Rocket Monkey at the end of the credits just fits the title.
All in all, this is a very special film.

  • Mike Howell: Hey Phoebe! Phoebe?

    [over intercom]

Mike Howell: Hey Phoebe. I just wanted to say that I love you and that everything is going to be okay. I mean, not perfect, obviously, but better. Like, we'll probably have to get a new house. and also cars. But I'm coming to get you and this will all be over. Soon-ish.

  • Laugher: I'm sorry. I can't control it. The things that they did to my head. They made you like they made me. But you're better than me. Who told you what to do?

    Mike Howell: Nobody.

    Laugher: That must be nice.
