"Reverse the World": A Love Fable of Inversion and Integration

"Reverse World" is not a special Hollywood production, it is an independent film, obviously it lacks some market considerations.

When I saw the poster, there was an impulse in my heart: why is inverse? Does the space for reversal have some meaning? After watching the film, the knot in my heart is opened. It turns out that anything to be hidden in the depths of the love story, inverse - can't help but become a blocking force.

First of all, it is a visual film. It is separated from the theory and common sense of hard science fiction. In order to satisfy the audience's visual curiosity, it makes every effort to make a big fuss about the principle of perspective, space composition, and image synthesis. The transmitted breath is also dreamlike and fairy tale. of. It is not a sci-fi film, and it can only deconstruct the virtual social culture that the director wants to put in it from the perspective of love.

Obviously, the reversal of the upper and lower space is the most direct division of the entire social class. The center of gravity of the planet is divided into two parts, the upper means the upper society, and the lower means the lower society. This kind of general division only occurs in fairy tales. In order to let children distinguish between good and bad people, distinguish between loyal and evil people, and develop the ability to recognize good and evil from an early age.

The main representatives of the two societies are the hero Adam and the heroine Eve. Around the love between the two, the contact between the two societies has produced a wonderful phenomenon. The key is that Eve lost her memory because of the injuries she was dating when she was a teenager, and the male protagonist Adam thought she was dead. As a result, when he was young, Adam saw Eve on TV and learned that she was working in a transitional world between two planets. So do everything possible to mix into that transition space, in order to find this love again.

Whether the story ends in tragedy or comedy, it doesn't matter to me.

The important thing is that the director wants to express the particularity of this kind of love too much, especially in the mutual synthesis of their reversed gravitation, just like the youthful face restoration cream that Adam studied and the anti-gravitational objects hidden on him, just for the purpose of Make this love more harmonious. The biggest obstacle is not the system constructed by the upper world or the gunfire in the hands of the police, but this reversed state of the world. And the director is obviously more obsessed with the pulling and fusion of the two gravitational forces, making two kisses upside down, using gravitational force to fly like a jump, and drinking upside down wine... This is similar to the sky castle that appeared in Nolan's "Inception". The same thing works. These many gimmicks pave the way for this love, but in essence it is about class issues and obstacles, and what is the difference between the righteous and evil love between the devil's daughter and the decent gang leader in Jin Yong's writings?

So, its simplicity is likely to cause many viewers to overlook its virtues.

It has the kind of wild ideas of Hollywood, but it lacks a lot of detailed research and layering in the plot. Although there are some action scenes in the back, it still looks pale. Just like the heroine wakes up from the state of amnesia, there is also a lack of a necessary reason, and even I found that when the two began to fall in love again, two-thirds of the film has passed. Although these practices that are contrary to the way of commercial films lack some plot care, they have a very amazing side in artistic visual expression.

I think the persuasiveness of director Juan Solana lies in the video art. Maybe he doesn't pay attention to the details and the complex narrative of the story in order to better express a certain moral, but these are not important. I think it deserves respect as an independent film.

Juan Solanna thought about this story in his mind for 6 years, and finally made it out, still surpassing many people, at least some people dared to think, but did not dare to shoot. He said: "I'm a director from Argentina, which is a third world country. And I've been filming overseas for a long time, so I'm very sensitive to the gap between these realities. Living in Argentina, you can't make out This kind of situation and reality, the raw and rough reality will make people associate with another world, the upper world. Six years ago, the idea of "Reverse World" was formed in my mind, and I have always loved this It tells the story of the mutual fusion or love between men and women in two worlds. There can be great visual elements, and there can be very good political metaphors and so on.”

However, Juan Solana may have missed something deeper this time by focusing too much on love.

Hope the next one is better.
