"The Night Manager" is wonderful because it captures fluid humanity. When the woman whom the male protagonist loves dies, he must take revenge, but in the process of revenge, he gains true love again. Even the dictator of an Arab country who bought heavy weapons would be shocked when a car was blown up in front of his eyes, "Jesus, who's in the car?", and he was relieved to find that no one was injured. Jed's cowardice and courage, Roper's dashing and cruel. Flowing contradictions and complex human nature can always create classics.
