A positive attitude trumps everything

The son of a mason, he was determined and worked hard to participate in the Olympic Games since he was a child. So he turned to ski jumping, which no one in China has participated in yet, and started a single-minded training camp as an amateur, which has always been a difficult and high-risk sport. The Nordics started training this sport from a 6-year-old child, and Eddie was 22 years old. He was poor and white, and the national Olympic team did not support it. It was inevitable that he would encounter cold-eyed and sharp ridicule everywhere, but Eddie smiled plainly. Keep sticking to your goals. Jumping from a high platform faces the danger of death and injury at any time. It is true that when the power of the dream is strong enough, the impossible task becomes possible. Eddie overcomes his fear and finally walks to the stage of the Olympic Games.

Because of the weak foundation, even if he qualified for the competition, he only took the last place. After Eddie successfully completed the snow jump and landed on the field, he cheered like an eagle and moved the audience. Everyone has their own goals. When their hard-earned goals are finally achieved, the sense of accomplishment and excitement is beyond words. However, other people's standards are actually flashy surfaces and have little to do with themselves. Officially, this full of positive energy infected others and made Eddie a star.

"The essence of the Olympic Games is not to win but to participate. Just as the essence of life is not the result but the experience." We all have our own goals, big or small, and I don't know how many people are still working hard and persevering. The most important thing in life is to recognize and stick to your goals and walk your own path.

Eddie the Eagle quotes

  • Matti Nykänen: You and I... You and I are like one o'clock and eleven o'clock. You see, we are closer to each other than to others. Winning, losing, all that stuff is for the little people. Men like us, we jump to free our souls. We are the only two jumpers with a chance to make history today. If we do less than our best with the whole world watching, it will kill us inside. For all time.

    Eddie Edwards: Good luck, Matti.

  • Official Speaker: [At the Closing Ceremony of the Calgary Olympics] You have broken world records. You have established many of your own personal bests and some of you have even soared like an eagle.
