Generation Kill, a mini-series about the 2003 Iraq War based on a documentary written by a Rolling Stone reporter Singing popular songs to find people to kill everywhere, but modern warfare does not use any ground troops. With the location of the contact notification, the air strikes were killed, and the soldiers were still far away, and the target was destroyed. After finally entering the city, I met the resistance and killed a few hajis. I got one in each happy celebration. At first I didn’t understand why the title of the film was called the Killing Generation even though it had never fought, but then I understood that these American soldiers were just as confused as the Iraq War. This generation of American soldiers who grew up in video games Going to war is just to shoot and kill legally. It has nothing to do with beliefs and has no sense of mission and justice. Naturally, it is just a killing generation. The senior commanders are all pig-like beings, only a baby-faced platoon leader, an iceman sergeant, and a team doctor have a more positive image. However, I appreciate that the US imperialists have a self-defeating spirit that has no political standpoint, and that the manslaughter of civilians and torture of prisoners of war are all truly shown, leaving it to all audiences to judge and think.
Because it is also a military-themed drama filmed by HBO that shows real events, many people compare this to the Brotherhood and the Pacific War. But modern warfare is not at all comparable to World War II. World War II should be regarded as the only just war in human history, and the Americans themselves would feel very fucked in the Iraq War. The optimism of the Brotherhood and the sadness of the Pacific Ocean, the ordinary officers and soldiers inside are heroes. In the killing generation, even the officers and soldiers with the most military accomplishment and compassion for others have nothing to do with heroes.
As a person with a rough heart and a hero complex, I don't like this drama too much.
