In addition to the appearance of Bruce Lee in the first act, there is also a middle section saying that he taught Ip Man to dance. The introduction of this role is necessary to illustrate the master-disciple relationship between Ip Man and Bruce Lee. But with such a blunt performance and plot configuration and two short paragraphs inserted, this role makes people feel that it is dispensable.
The first part of "Ip Man" fights Japanese general Miura, the second part fights British boxing champion Tornado, and the third part fights Wing Chun fellow Zhang Tianzhi. The opponents in the plot are not as good as the first. Maybe because of this, in the middle of the third part, Ip Man slaps the African American French (the boss who controls the black market boxing behind the scenes). It is a failure of the whole movie to have Taichen play this role. To put it bluntly, it was added for the sake of box office (it is estimated that quite a few people are willing to go to the cinema just to watch Donnie Yen fight Taichen, and some people think this is the third episode the ultimate showdown). A boss is actually a heavyweight boxer-like figure, several times stronger than the boxing champion in the second episode (it should have invited Tyson in the second episode, and the third episode was a boxer, and the old trick was repeated). It is estimated that it is not easy to invite Taichen to perform. He is one of the best heavyweight boxers in history (58 appearances, 50 wins, 6 losses, 0 draws, 44 knockouts, and won titles: heavyweight WBA, WBC, IBF), body size and punching weight are several levels higher than Donnie Yen or Ip Man, it is unbelievable that his character can be beaten by Ip Man (at least the American market thinks it is impossible), and the protagonist of this movie is Ye Wen, how could he lose, so the result was set to tie within three minutes. Taichen also said a few words in Cantonese in the play, which surprised the audience in the Cantonese area a lot. But he also said "Get out", what the hell is this? Did he even learn a word of Mandarin in Hong Kong in 1959? (Cantonese should say "dead open".) If I continue to fight after three minutes, Ip Man will probably be dead. It turns out that Fei Lanqi is the best fight in the movie. No wonder he suddenly disappeared in the plot. .
Fortunately, the performances of several other characters are still OK. In addition to continuing to interpret Ye Wen as a master martial artist, Donnie Yen also wants to make him a peerless man. Xiong Dailin got the most scenes in three episodes, and worked with Donnie Yen to deal with the tender part of the movie. Several supporting actors Zheng Zeshi, Tan Yaowen, and Zhang Jin are all actors at the level of best actor or best supporting actor, and they are responsible and energetic in their acting skills.
As an action movie, the martial arts aspect is very important. Although "Ip Man 3" has obvious shortcomings in the plot, it is the director's problem, and the level of action director is still a master. The martial arts director of the first episode is Liang Xiaoxiong, the action director is Sammo Hung, and the action director of the second episode is Sammo Hung. Both films won the Taiwan Golden Horse Award and the Hong Kong Film Awards for the best action design, so the third episode is about action. How to continue and make breakthroughs? So, the action director of the third episode invited Yuan Heping, one of the masters in this field. The action scenes of the film are even better than the first two episodes. Bruce Lee's legs appeared at the beginning, and then there are two group scenes where Donnie Yen and Zhang Jinyi, the two best disciples of the eighth master, played a few games. There is also a section of Wing Chun Muay Thai in the middle, from the narrow vertical elevator to the aisle, from upstairs to downstairs, the Muay Thai master rolls down the stairs to the ground, this speed is faster than the speed of the old elevator A little bit, pretty! Donnie Yen and Taichen are fighting. It can be said that a generation of masters are fighting with a beast. Unfortunately, it only lasts three minutes, and it stops just after warming up. It's not good. Then, Zhang Tianzhi, played by Zhang Jin, swept the masters of several sects. The ultimate showdown is Ye Wen and Zhang Tianzhi's "Wing Chun vs. Wing Chun" to see who can win the title of "Authentic Wing Chun". The Eighth Master not only continued to show Wing Chun's boxing, but also showed the six-and-a-half stick and eight-slashing swordsmanship, greatly enriching the Wing Chun sparring scene with the three-stage style. In short, the action design and action performance are excellent and live up to expectations.
After watching Ip Man's Wing Chun style, Zhang Tianzhi said that Ip Man's Wing Chun is not authentic, but there is nothing in the movie that is not authentic. In order to show Ip Man's grand master style (but not wanting to remind people of Wong Kar Wai's "The Grand Master"), Ip Man finally challenged to defend the "authentic Wing Chun". As a result, Zhang Tianzhi lost and broke the "Wing Chun Authentic" plaque. It turned out that the so-called "authentic" means that whoever is good at fighting is qualified to say that he is "authentic". Obviously, "authentic" and "grandmaster" Concept confused. It is mentioned in the movie that their masters are Mr. Foshan Zan (Liang Zan), they are brothers of the same school, and they are equal in martial arts, so both of them can be said to be authentic Wing Chun. However, only those who are respected in martial arts ideology and spirit, regarded as a teacher, and who carry forward martial arts, can be called masters.
The movie is more than warm, and the action fights are amazing. But part of the plot can't stand scrutiny, the whole is not coherent enough, and it deliberately describes Ip Man as a good man who is invincible, patriotic and patriotic, but lacks the exploration of the spirit and connotation of martial arts, so this can only be another one. Authentic kung fu movies for non-masters.
