Children's films are inevitably sad

What is hard to avoid in autobiographical films is sadness. The blue kite is sad, and so is the little shoe. The innocence of children and the cruelty of the adult world are always the main themes of children's films. And children are always struggling in grief, crying in kindness and helplessness, arousing our indignation at the civilized, adult, so-called hypocritical world. But what is that. When a child grows up, it is not the same as an adult. He still lies, has a temper, is impatient with children, and must discipline them.
This is a very warm story. I think of many things, such as juvenile pie and white ribbon, which are all about the growth of children. After all, children's movies are a spur to the adult world. Children's movies go straight to the world of adult movies, but I still like the flavor of youth movies. Youth, in the ambiguous stage between adults and children, is not so powerless and full of energy, but it is not as boring, serious, and high-sounding as adults.
Youth, like a little lion, the world is its jungle. So I like Godard's exhaustion, more than this four hundred blows.

  • Antoine Doinel: [heard thinking aloud, as he is writing on a wall] "Here lies poor Antoine Doinel, unjustly punished by Sourpuss for a pinup fallen from the sky. It will be an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth!"
