Don't wait to lose you to know yourself - those pieces about the Red Lights

When you get bored, you can close the door and watch a movie all day. No matter how busy you are, you can indulge yourself. Procrastinators in the Internet age are sometimes so hopeless.
While waiting for my hair to dry, I want to watch a suspense movie, so I clicked on this movie, just like many people are curious about superpowers, definitely not because of the starring Cillian Murphy, although his blue eyes can always make people impressive profound.
Whether or not this world has superpowers is not the subject of the film's exploration, but after all, it is the thread that connects all the plots. The blue-eyed Murphy only serves as Margaret's assistant, to expose the disguise of one superpower after another. His motivation stems from the shadow of his young mother's gullible belief in a psychic and her death. It sounds a bit far-fetched, but it was once popular. The temporary superpower Simon has made a comeback, giving the story a strong desire to continue.
When Margaret dies of an old ailment, uncovering Simon's face becomes Murphy's entire goal.
When the truth appeared in front of the camera, the earthquake stopped suddenly, and Simon showed an incredible look in the theater, Murphy already knew that it was too late.
This is a story about an autistic person with superpowers looking for the same kind. In fact, it is not so important to have superpowers. It is just a prop used by the director to tell the story. The truth is that our own hearts, like Murphy, can't accept the true self, and can only use lies to deceive ourselves. As a result, Margaret, who is in love with her mother and son, also left, and the lies will only exacerbate the suffering of the self.
The director arranged a natural ending, allowing Murphy to let go of his self-lost, and how much he lost in exchange for his self-awareness. Sisyphus may have thought this way when he was rolling a big rock a few years ago!

The story is nothing new, but it can be considered as a one-shot. I like the little domineering at the end

Red Lights quotes

  • Simon Silver: We dream 27 times a night. An intricate neurological protection mechanism which makes us forget. What protects you? A line of salt? From the time of ancient Greece to the present day, philosophers and scholars have argued man is essentially rational. I don't happen to agree. If one observes and studies another person without having first studied oneself, how do we know whether out instruments are appropriately set? How do we know we are reliable? We have no proof. There's only one way of gaining access to the truth, and that's not to expect anything. If our intentions aren't pure, we might end up creating monsters.

  • Simon Silver: We called Ptolemy insane, we spat in the face of Galileo, we burned Giordano Bruno... What did we need? What do we need in order to learn? What makes us be what we are? What finally makes us come to accept? What makes us believe?
