It's the first time I didn't understand a romance movie

To be honest, I didn't really get it, especially the kid Joey. How could he be so emotionally fluctuated? At first I thought he was gay, but struggled with hating his sexuality, but the story ends with the guy who seems to have grown up because of Uncle Ben's death and has a girlfriend. So I suddenly don't understand a lot of emotions in this movie. Finally, I like this kind of literary and refreshing movie, even if the first two-thirds of the movie is making love suffer for mundane things like "money" and "house".
Off topic, I really want to meet such decent senior gay guys. They appreciate art, appreciate life, cherish love, and love family. It seems that few straight guys in the world have these qualities. Most straight guys give me the feeling of being young Animals, who do not understand human emotions, can at best be regarded as "understanding human nature". It made me want to have a gay friend.
Back in the movie, the ending was so calm and unexpectedly reversed. Originally, the audience thought that everything was over, they found a cheap and pleasant place to live, and the promised reunion was just around the corner. This was a hit. The jackpot is lucky, but the ending has to let Joey tell the audience that life is full of regrets.
Put aside the matter of "peering together", this is a simple love movie, life-like and down-to-earth. It's so beautiful, it will stay in my heart forever.
