Mansfield Manor is actually in Austen's novel One of the most suitable to be adapted into a screen work. I have seen three versions of Pride and Prejudice and two versions of Sense and Sensibility before, and I feel a little bored after watching too many... (especially the six episodes of the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, although it is recognized that the casting is very successful, I always I can't stop watching it...how did such a simple story become so long...), and this Mansfield in 1999, I didn't get bored after watching it several times, and felt that every minute was full of drama Ah~!
And I think the 99th edition was adapted quite well. Because I think it is actually more in line with Austin's own spiritual temperament. There are a lot of witty scenes in the shot, which are very funny and full of irony. And all of this is not intentional, but inadvertently revealed in a lot of details, so it's pretty stand up to close scrutiny. For example, although the wife has always been the background board of the main character, all her actions and expressions are full of irony and look particularly funny.
The overall plot is quite full, basically full of drama. As a less patient reader (I'm the kind of person who is more comfortable with watching thrillers, I feel like falling asleep when the plot is short), this movie completely hooked me.
In addition, The big house and the countryside scenery are so beautiful~ I feel like I want to cut every frame.
