Unconsciously

The movie really needs to be understood. It is simple and easy to understand but has nothing to say. Is it better to tell a story linearly? Or do you want to be original, not to follow the popular trend, and to leave the answer to the question for the audience to think about?

This movie is about people, who am I? The meaning of my existence? How can I find my former self and know myself? Why are we all lost, lost for what? This film explores these questions.

The first time I watched it, it was a grab version without subtitles, and the resolution was not good. Coupled with the lazy and powerless low-pitched narration, I didn't understand what to say at all, but I was moved by the photography (moving the mirror), eclectic. I think that's what a good movie is. The first criterion is to make it look good (photography). Criterion 2: Honesty. Criterion 3: It's okay to look from there.

After reading it, it seems that I understand it, but I don't really understand it. But quite nice.
The second time I watched it again, there were subtitles in ultra-clear version, and the image was shocking. I thought it would be even more shocking to watch it on the big screen. The narration is more direct to the central idea of the film, not pretending to be b.

Fragmented editing, photography (dv quality related to childhood, handheld, aerial photography, etc.), sound effects, soundtrack (the ability to pick music, really fucking awesome), all carefully crafted, seemingly random but very tight . The seemingly jumping collage is actually well-founded, and the story line has never been broken, just like a kite set in the sky, the line on the ground is still on the ground. The sound effects are exquisite to the extreme, and a few birds pass by intentionally (seemingly casual). This shot was taken before an earthquake occurred shortly after the opening (before a disaster occurs, it is reasonable for birds and beasts to walk away). This is so down-to-earth and delicate. However, the director did not handle it without traces, and the skill was so high that it was unmatched in the world.

To explain the past entanglement between bale(rick) and cate, a lot of jumpers were used, which seemed to be random, but it was carefully concocted. This paragraph seems to be in the present but is actually in the past. Pay careful attention to the costumes between them. They are different, but the similarity of costumes is easy to make people play. This effect creates a sense of alienation, which is similar to the coldness of the whole film. Lonely, lost, unanimous. The characters in various scenes (empty countryside, empty parties, etc.) are almost all soulless and lost. This model is similar to Bresson's people. Looking at the director's early films (badlands, days of heaven), the handling of the characters is different. Obviously, this is a well-designed, wandering soul lost in various places. How can people return to their originality? Isn't that pretty off-topic?

Bale and father, father and younger brother, bale and younger brother, the hatred and love between them are very clear and never ambiguous. Where did their hatred come from, because the dead brothers lacked communication and understanding with each other with pain. This story has also been mentioned in "The Tree of Life". I don't know if it has an autobiographical element, but one thing must be affirmed, that is, the director is quite honest, and draws the material from life and extracts the appearance of life.

The whole film is amazing, some movies are really not enough to watch once, this is one. People feel annoyed, bored, and chaotic when their viewing experience is different from our ordinary viewing experience. This film is destined to become an alternative, but as long as you look at it with humility, this is a world. After all, the director is someone from another galaxy.
