more than friends

More than just friends.
When the old Judy said this to the still young Cate, the overflowing sadness could be felt across the screen.
Yes, I want more than friends, so I indulge her willfulness, tolerate her deviance, but also make myself deeper and deeper. Give and receive quietly switch positions.
I am most afraid of this kind of relationship, wearing the cloak of friendship, coercing you to do more and ask for more. This kind of greed is not only between the same sex, but also the opposite sex. Perhaps this kind of request, as the husband in Cate's film said, is the desire for a young body. It's just that most people suppressed it, and Cate did.
The flavor is that it scares you, it makes you reflect, and it makes you know, well, something like this really happened.
Then, the wild goose was silent, Cate returned to the family, Judy was in the world, and continued to look for the next young girl. It may not be the best ending, but it is the truest ending.

Notes on a Scandal quotes

  • [Barbara's first impressions of Sheba as she watches her in the playground]

Barbara Covett: [voiceover] Hard to read the wispy novice. Is she a sphinx or simply stupid? Artfully dishevelled today. The tweedy tramp coat is an abhorrence. It seems to say "I'm just like you." But clearly she's not. A fey person, I suspect.

  • [Barbara's opinion of her male pupils]

Barbara Covett: [to Sheba] Little towers of testosterone. You'll soon get used to them.
