Sense and Sensibility

The companion volume of "Pride and Prejudice", although it focuses on the love between men and women, the emotional flow is very interesting, and I can't wait to read it.

The English countryside in the 18th century, the scenery is so beautiful, the manor is so beautiful. The plot development is a life change caused by the inheritance, and "Downton Abbey" should be affected by this. The relevant historical customs are not very clear, such as the engagement system and inheritance system at that time.

Pride and prejudice represent the male and female protagonists, respectively, while reason and emotion represent older sisters and younger sisters. During the showdown with Edward, Eleanor said very restrainedly and calmly that you are not wrong. In their love, each other can perceive each other's mind through actions, but Edward never stated it clearly, and his subsequent behavior was more repeated. It is precisely because there is no clear statement, no promise, so I don't blame you, you are not wrong. It's not because your later betrayal hurt your feelings, but it's because you didn't say it clearly, but I went my own way, felt sorry for myself, and hurt myself.

I'm not sure if I understand this emotion correctly, you can also read Ang Lee's version and read the book.

However, the "rational restraint" of feelings represented by Eleanor is very similar to me, so although the actors are not very beautiful, they are very attractive, and later I will feel that they have a good temperament. I have been guessing the ending of the story. Although Eleanor and Edward are married, there are always some flaws, because the man's feelings are not pure enough. The rational Eleanor finally gained her own happiness, and I hope the ending of the story will be successful.

And Marian's actor looks average, Willoughby is a bit like Mr. Bean, the only thing worth mentioning is that Edward's big cousin is very handsome, and he is the most expected British person in this British drama. Jane Austen can perceive and write characters with different personalities, and grasps it very delicately and realistically, which really requires a very outstanding talent.

Eleanor is ok, Marianne is too rough like a big aunt, and a failure. The lack of bright spots in the flat and straightforward narrative can be regarded as quite satisfactory. In contrast, I prefer Ang Lee's version.

On the narrative technique: the first third of the 2008 edition lost to the 1995 edition, especially the story of the two sisters Marian and Eleanor, but the details of the former are brilliant; on the role: Willoughby in the 08 edition turned out to be a bean No. 2, mourning! The two versions of Eleanor are inseparable, but the Marianne 08 version wins. PS The cottage by the sea in Devon is my ideal interpretation of the English countryside. And, as always, love drops Dan!
