Don't let the needle fall to the ground

This is an afterthought. Last night, I watched "Chess to Win" and thought it was good, like writing about what I saw in the film.
First let's briefly tell the story. This film is adapted from a true story. It takes place during the Cold War. The United States and the Soviet Union are fighting against each other in all aspects. The appearance of the chess genius Bob Fisher makes the United States hope to regain the United States and the Soviet Union in the losing battle. a city. Bob is an "artist" who only cares about chess, not politics. He was so focused that he couldn't stand any tinny sound, and the sound of the cameras rolling and the coughing of the audience during the final prevented him from concentrating. After losing the first set, he made the absurd request to play in what he thought was an absolutely quiet table tennis room. The Soviet opponent, who did not want to win without a fight, agreed to the request. In the dozen or so games since then, Bob has been suppressing his opponent and won the championship.
Very old-fashioned plot. If this is a script written by a screenwriter, the screenwriter may need to go back to college to retake it. But not.
What impressed me a lot in this film was Tobey Maguire's interpretation of the "artist". There is a part of the world of people whose lives are bound up with something else. Most people use these things as tools, but these "artists" deeply love their objects and are willing to be entangled with it every minute and every second, learning, researching, and creating for the rest of their lives. In Bob's world, everything in the world is less important because he has chess. In the film, his eyes when discussing the chess game with his friends, he scolded the media without hesitation when he saw through the deception of the Soviets, and his thoughtful and slightly blurred eyes when he was in a trance in the later period. neither warm nor hot.
Let's look at these "artists" aside from the performances of the actors. They are called artists because they can create. If you are just gifted, or you just spend your life on one thing, you can't be called an artist. They poured their lives into it, learned and understood the wisdom of their predecessors, and rarely caught the inspiration of the lightning flashes, expanding the scope of human cognition a little bit. This is enough to make a street girl watch a chess game on TV, and it is enough to go down in history. This is their unparalleled charisma. Of course, their flaws are obvious. The pursuit of perfection, the hatred of Japanese chess, paranoia, arrogance, paranoia, and trance are not only the characteristics of Bob, but also the commonality of many artists. Perhaps, the world should treat these people with an inclusive attitude. They use their lives to think for human beings, to expand the field of human cognition, and to do important things that others don’t want to do or can’t do. So be careful not to drop the needle and disturb the artists who are thinking.
There is also a short real video at the end of the film. We saw the real bob, who already had grey hair. The truth is that after being exploited during the Cold War, Bob faded out of the public eye and even went to jail. "Now that the Cold War is over, they're like putting me in jail." How sad! People who are obsessed with one thing, you spend your life thinking and creating, but you are often not used by politicians. This is a sad and helpless reality. Whoever made the world need politicians also needs artists. Perhaps for those born artists, heaven is more suitable for them. It is more perfect, more extreme and quieter than the world.
At this moment, maybe Bob is arguing with God about the chess game, his face is red.
