The last cowboy in the world

Mistress America gives me a real sense of comedy, not just simply entertaining the audiences, then serving up a bowl of chicken soup while it's hot.

Anyway, it's so dramatic.

Every character is made so real, fresh, and, unexpected. Of course, this is also due to the actor's performance is particularly in place.

u think she is shiny. No, shes not. Shes totally a mess.
u think ur alike her. No, she pretended.

Humans are tangled individuals.

Tony in the play said that tracy's novels were not good.

Later, when he was alone with tracy, tracy said to him why you can't directly say that my novels are well written, but Tony said shi..Im jealous. In

the end, when everyone judged her novels together, they all said Badly written, tony echoed Ive told u.

We always flock to crowded places.

There is a more interesting place

tracy asked Tony, have you ever thought about being with me, tony said he did, but he loves Nicolette, He says he wanna love not keep up with

I don't know what tracy thought in his heart.

In fact, what surprised me the most was the role of tracy.
In the first half, she felt that she was very gentle and passive, always yearning for approval and guessing
, but in the second half, she was very active, insisted, seems so sure.
She told Tony that she just changed her expression.

She had always understood that Brook was not going to succeed. She loves brook, but she doesn't tell her that she loves living with her and dreaming.

She draws from brook and writes her as a snarky and desperate money-worshipping woman who does nothing and does nothing.
And from the beginning to the end believes that he is right and refuses to back down.

She is a thief.

She cuckolds others.

She asked brook, do you particularly like me admiring you on the side, or do you particularly like to talk to others.

But she ended up looking everywhere, tears welling up in her eyes.

She still loves brook and misses New York with brook.

We can't be sure she's pretending everything. She did have yearning and confusion. She once said this in the apartment where Brook lived: "I remember looking across the river, the never-ending lights of Manhattan's high-rise buildings, thinking about who lives there, I just want to Walk into these buildings, climb the stairs, and fall asleep. I am part of this now, on the fifth floor of a makeshift commercial apartment. This is our castle, the fort. But outside the window, I can hear the rock drills roaring Loud noise, it's tearing the city apart. Neighborhoods change as fast as the weather in New York, or the other way around. But I failed to warn Meadow, and by the time I noticed, it was too late .”

And the transformation of tracy can be seen, from the beginning with a smile, trying to become popular, participating in various activities, being careful not to provoke people to comment on tony’s novel without any room, and being obsessive when promoting the restaurant. In particular, after applying for a literary club many times, and finally being recorded, he threw away his briefcase, founded a club by himself and invited Tony and Nicolette to join.

I think she was inspired by brook, but she was clearer than her, so she jumped put of it, and however, she liked it and missed it so she didnt tell anything.

Maybe it's selfish, but I don't think there's anything wrong with her writing this novel, good or bad.

New York, New York, so many things that i want to find out
every disappointment and yearning
so crazy so cool
but not everyone can be like that romantic cowboy in the
end romantic becomes dramatic
we have to face all the problems, after all .
Finance,betrayal,breaking up....all this shit.

Brook is saying how much she wished they were still in a feudal society where their social status would never change, peasants still peasants, emperors still emperors.
Then she said but... took out her SAT transcript and said she was going to college.
our life is always filled with trying, fail, and fighting.

Finally quote a comment: You think you see through the essence of life, and life says who the fuck are you?

[[The soundtrack is pretty good, I watched the clips in several places many times (◍′˘‵◍) ]

Mistress America quotes

  • [Last lines]

Tracy: [narrating] Meadow had made rich fat women less fat, and rich stupid kids less stupid, and lame rich men less lame. And she wanted so badly to be on the other side... to be fat and stupid and lame and rich. But what she couldn't see most of all, more than she couldn't see that she was never going to get the restaurant, was that those people were *nothing* compared to her. They were matches to her bonfire. She was the last cowboy, all romance and failure. The world was changing, and her kind didn't have anywhere to go. Being a beacon of hope for lesser people... is a lonely business.

  • Tracy: It was clear that the thing that Meadow wanted most in the world, the thing that she wanted to define her, to give her a place to put her time and talents, her everything, the restaurant, it was clear that it will never happen. The most surprising thing was that Meadow was actually surprised by it. She could see the world with painful accuracy, but she couldn't see herself or her fate. And because I was in love with her I decided I couldn't see it either.
