Movies related to Wong Kar Wai, I live to twenty-one, and I have always watched some of them. The first one was "In the Mood for Love". I read Eileen Chang's novel and was influenced by "Lust and Caution". I fell in love with those movies of women wearing cheongsam in a twist. Born in the alleys of Shanghai, there is always something about old Shanghai in his bones. But I was only seventeen when I first watched that movie. How could I understand it? Last December, in the winter, late at night, I was digging a cup of pudding and watching "Blueberry Night". Then, starting this year, "Fallen Angels", "Spring Comes Together", and "The Grandmaster" are roughly in this order. Next is "Chongqing Forest" last weekend, "2046" two days ago, and "Mong Kok Carmen" tonight.
Among Wong Kar-wai's films, the first film I wanted to write a review for was "Chongqing Forest", because this is the only film I have given five stars so far. The problem is that my memory is very poor, I have not seen many movies, and my knowledge and experience are very shallow. What I can write is not called a movie review, at most it is an essay related to the movie. I can only write it by feeling when I just finished watching the movie, and after a few days I lose my inspiration. So "Mong Kok Carmen" became the first Wong Kar Wai film I wrote, and it was also his first film.
I was very surprised at how young Andy Jacky Cheung was in 1988. I believe that the Andy Lau that people of my age have seen since I can remember is probably not the one in "Mong Kok Carmen". Sometimes I think, this movie is older than me, the sound, color, light and shadow on the screen appeared earlier than me, but now I can see them clearly. Isn't this a surprise?
After watching Wong Kar-wai's later films, you know that the stories he made with Hong Kong as the background were to some extent related to crime, but the blood was just embellishment, the sound of gunfire was the foil, and the lonely souls of men and women were the protagonists. And "Carmen in Mong Kok" is unique. The most poignant part of this tragic performance is the scene of fighting and killing, as well as the brotherhood between the big brother Hua Ge and the thin guy Wu Fei. The love between Hua Ge and A'e is only used An interlude to reduce swelling and pain.
The dark blue of the night, the crimson of blood, the hazy smoke, the shaking slow motion. It was the fighting under the lens of Wong Kar-wai, which was still brutal and bloody, and its strength was no less than those of the Young and Dangerous movies. It is the style of Wong Kar Wai that has not yet fully matured, and it is also the most representative style of Hong Kong movies.
Brother Hua and Wufei are both gangsters, but they are both good people. Brother Hua has stood up for Wu Fly again and again, and he will make the other party double the repayment for the injury Wu Fie has suffered. Wu Fei relies on his boss Hua Ge, but is afraid to implicate him.
——“Why do you have to let me go?”
——“Why? I don’t want you to be cut open tomorrow as soon as you go out the door.”
Before Wu Fen did something wrong, Brother Hua always asked him with a smile to stand up for him. Carrying it on for him, he has never been as vicious and sinister as other big bosses treat small bosses, and this is the first time they quarreled in the movie. Brother Hua slammed out the door, Wu Fei sat on the ground, dejected and ashamed, a minute later Brother Hua opened the door again: "We don't know what will happen tomorrow, right? Let's go to supper".
I think of the boys in the middle school class, who also fought in gangs all day long, not to mention the fights outside the school, and occasionally got into a fight with their own people and hurt each other. But boys never solve problems like girls rely on the cold war. The friendship between boys is that they are good brothers after quarreling and hitting each other.
Then talk about movies. Brother Hua and Wu Fei were going to have supper, but as soon as they opened the door and went out, there was a shovel and a wooden stick waiting for them, and they slapped their heads. Not only Wufei was beaten, but also Brother Hua. Two people face a group of people, defenseless. The most impressive scene is Wufei lying on the ground, and Brother Hua has been beaten to the point of being paralyzed against the wall, but he reached out and touched Wufei's head, unable to bear or love, it is difficult to express. Blood and tears were stuck together, and Wu Fei tried his best to stand up, dragging pain and guilt out of the alley. Wu Fei thought that the farther away he was from the boss, the safer he would be, so he wouldn't implicate the boss.
A'e is a pain reliever that relieves pain and heals wounds. From the moment she appeared outside Hua Ge's door, Maggie Cheung, who was a little more shy and clear than Li Qiao in "Sweet Honey", was the calm and pleasant soundtrack in "Carmen of Mong Kok".
- "I bought a few cups, and I knew it wouldn't be long before they all smashed. So I hid one, and when you need this cup one day, give me a call and I'll let you know. Where are you hiding?"
Compared to Su Lizhen, she naturally prefers A'e. It is as clean as water in a glass, colorless and transparent. Ice cubes can reduce swelling, and when the heat melts, it is water again.
A woman who can be healed waited for Brother Hua to look for her, and when he came and said he would come back in the evening, he couldn't wait for the third time. At that time, A'e must not have known that the eldest brother's woman is not easy to be. Even though Brother Hua had already said that he couldn't promise her anything, A'e naively believed every word he said, thinking that he would definitely come back when he came back.
Wu Fei threw away the peanuts, rushed out without hesitation, and shot in a dashing manner, and was finally shot dead by the police. This is the most regretless confession that the Wufei, who has achieved nothing and is dying for face, can make to himself. It was no longer a dark blue night, and the gunshots and blood were exposed in broad daylight.
When the big brother Hua Ge saw with his own eyes his slender Wufei fell to the ground with several shots, he instinctively chose to die in the same way. In his concept it was not death, but standing up for the brother, who never acted alone. The enemies are the same, and the endings must be similar. What appears in my mind is a woman I love deeply, but all my will can die for my brother. The black fly implicated Brother Hua again.
The passionate music started again, and a Mong Kok tragedy fell in a pool of blood.
