"In-town" and "Out-of-town"

My understanding of this film is this: I think the theme of this film is a bit like "Besieged City" - people in the city want to come out, people outside the city want to go in.

Ami plays a painter and a leading actress in the financial industry. They all belong to the high-end class of the upper class, and they represent "people in the city". On the surface, they have rich material conditions and high social status. They are well-dressed and have a superior life. However, to a certain extent, their spiritual world is very lacking. They are empty and lonely, long for warmth but lack trust. They suffer from being unable to find similar people in their own class, so they try to break through this cold world by trying to change their lives. They want to join the WTO and find spiritual comfort in the bustling and warm world. Yet they understand that they can never live without the city where they live, just as fish cannot live without water, and they cannot live without their former class, because they are born noble. They can only occasionally stick their heads out of the water to breathe like fish when they are stuffy. That is to say, Ami and the heroine in the film temporarily gain a little warmth through their respective experiences, and finally have to return to their original places.
The male protagonists in the film are also the laundry worker and the woman in the video. They represent "people from outside the city". They were born into the poor class. They struggled in their own dark world and struggled to survive. But they always have dreams, and they are full of enthusiasm and eagerly looking forward to the moment of dawn, hoping that through their own efforts, they can change their fate, stand out, and break away from their original class. The dark life is the driving force that supports their continuous pursuit. They yearn for another bright world all the time, hoping to become one of them. However, the deep-rooted suffering shrouded their heads like a giant net, how difficult it was to break through! At the same time, the dreams that are pinned on others are also so difficult to realize. The woman in the videotape still failed to change her fate through marriage, and ended her life miserably; but for the male protagonist who held her dream of being an actor, the female protagonist could not directly help him, and he still had to rely on himself to struggle on the lifeline.

This is the theme of the film: those who want to come out of the city can't get out, and those who want to get in outside the city can't get in.

In addition, this film also fully shows us the beautiful human nature. Although the male protagonist lives at the bottom, is oppressed and bullied, poor and embarrassed, but he lives tenaciously, cleans himself, and behaves with integrity. He insists on using his hard work day and night to support himself and his family. No matter whether the work is expensive or cheap, he is supporting himself. At the same time, he persistently pursues ideals and always strives to achieve his goals. As for the videotape woman, although it is equally difficult to get rid of her humble fate, she loves life and her family so much. She describes a beautiful world to her family and to us with clear eyes. From her records, it is almost impossible to see life. We follow her camera to feel her happy smile, perception of world affairs, small happiness captured, faint sadness and yearning for a better future, until everything came to an abrupt end, such a pure and beautiful woman It disappeared out of thin air, and nothing was explained, and it was frozen in the dust-covered videotape, which is really heart-wrenching. There was no accusation or complaint in the video, but we clearly experienced her unfortunate life.

I read in some movie reviews that the heroine used the hero to make him her own tour guide, but I don't think so. I think the heroine still has a simple and sincere feeling for the hero, neither exploiting nor sympathizing, which can be seen from a few details. First of all, she has always been kind and friendly to the male protagonist. She has never ridiculed his indecent work in the slightest. Even when the male protagonist fled in a panic after she found out that he was hitting a mouse at night, her first reaction was to catch up and comfort him. Secondly, when she was finally able to face Ami again by tracking and secretly filming to create encounters, she was accidentally bumped into by the male protagonist. Her reaction was to subconsciously choose to chase out to find the male protagonist, and gave up without any hesitation. Difficult opportunity to meet. Why? Isn't it because she cares about the male protagonist's feelings? She was afraid that he would be sad, she was afraid that he would misunderstand that she was just taking advantage of him, and she did not want to hurt the pure and kind male protagonist. Once again, she accompanied her friend to buy drugs at night. When she accidentally found out that the other party turned out to be the male protagonist, she immediately lowered her body and hid, because she still cared about her image in the male protagonist's mind, and she did not want to destroy his good impression of her. And let him deeply experience the difference of class, thus affecting their friendship.

The heroine and Ami, they both mistakenly think that they love someone who belongs to the same class as the other, but they don't know it themselves, in fact, what they are more spiritually yearning for is the appearance of another world: pure, simple, Kind and sincere. The male laundress and the videotape woman are the typical representatives of that ideal world, and they are the reflections of their hearts. What they are looking for is the most beautiful human nature that has nothing to do with money and power, transcends class, and has no intrigue. This is their alternate selves lurking within them.
The four people in the film are unfortunate and embarrassing. Because their lives are in the wrong place, their ideal world is wrong with the real world, and it is difficult to reverse, so it must be lonely and painful.
After watching the film, a touch of sadness lingers for a long time.
