This film satirizes all levels of today's society with a comical approach.
For the upper class, it is ironic that they are closed-minded. Although they have endless wealth and power, they can only be confined to a small circle. They have no close friends and only interest allies. It is also very painful to say.
Chance's appearance injected fresh life into this stagnant stagnant water. Everything about Chance is special and attractive, although he is only a mentally retarded child born with insufficient development.
But this did not affect the understanding of him in the upper classes. They all believed that he was a wise man who did not reveal it. Although his speech was very straightforward and strange, the words with the donkey's mouth not the horse's mouth made them feel that there was another meaning in it. At the end of the film, the old men carrying ben's coffin represent the wealthy families who can control the United States. They decide the direction of the United States and the world, and they finally choose to elect a gardener as the next president of the United States. This is not only the burden of the film's comedy, but also the satire of the upper class.
For the middle class, such as department leaders in the FBI, CIA, and Press, when faced with the investigation quagmire of Chance, their behavior is really a portrayal of politicians in the real society: facing unsolvable problems, they do not consider solving them in a positive way ( or no ability at all), but praying to get away with magic. Deceiving superiors, scolding subordinates, and enjoying the success.
For the civilian class, the film particularly emphasizes the issue of race. The dialogue of Chance's old servant watching Chance TV interview clearly highlighted two issues: 1. The United States is a white society, even if he is a mentally handicapped person, he is more mixed than others. Good (especially black people, in fact, Asians, Mexicans, etc. are not easy to mix) 2. The common people are full of pessimism.
This is an appropriate film, reflecting the economic crisis in the United States. The film emphasizes that the economy has cycles just like nature. After the desolate and cold autumn and winter, there will be a warm spring and a harvest summer, which can bring people great encouragement and confidence.
But this is just an inspiring statement. The real substantive change is to make changes in the system and thinking: the system will no longer kill people, and the upper class will be more open. These are the inspirations brought by this film.
The reason for giving it to Samsung is that I think that although this film is not inferior to other high-scoring films in terms of content, Chance's 'witty' words sometimes make me feel very inappropriate and very inconsistent. This is actually the main joke of the film, probably because I'm not used to the American humor of that era.
Chance is a bit like Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean, but obviously the latter's performance makes me more convinced that he's playing a weird guy, not a weird one.

PS. Finally, I would like to emphasize the identity of Chance.
I think a more reasonable explanation is: Chance is the child of the old owner of the garden, but because of Chance's intelligence and identity, he never left the garden until the owner of the garden died.
This view can be explained from many details of the film:
1. At the beginning of the film, when the lawyer came to collect the house, he inquired about the employment information of the garden owner. Chance was not in the ranks, so he was not a professional gardener.
2. When watching the Chance TV show, the old servant said that she raised Chance from childhood and took care of Chance from birth to the end. Logically speaking, a gardener cannot be taken care of by servants of the same level. Combined with the attitude of the old servant to prepare breakfast for Chance at the beginning, it can be seen that Chance is not a simple gardener.
3. When Chance led the lawyer to visit the garden, I saw Chance's room. His room was well-equipped and high-grade. The most important point is that Chance can wear the clothes of the elderly and fit very well, suggesting that there is a relationship between them, so he may be the garden A child of the Lord not a gardener.
