Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver), a doctor of psychology, is good at analyzing various unexplained supernatural phenomena with scientific means, and is full of doubts about the so-called superpowers. With the help of assistant Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy), they go deep into the countryside and expose one after another "psychic" scam. At the same time, Simon Silver (Robert De Niro), the superpower who once caused a sensation in the 1960s and 1970s, made a strong comeback, causing a new wave of craze.
