Humanity and War

I don't want to comment on whether the movie itself is good or not, because it won't. Let me tell you what I feel:

the beauty of human nature and the beautiful things in life form a powerful contrast to the cruelty and horror of war.

The beautiful scene where the soldiers of the reconnaissance team prepared Kaja's birthday present was in stark contrast to the tragic battle the next day and the sacrifices of the soldiers. At the end, the division's words "Farewell, brothers" brought tears to my eyes.

The horror of war is also reflected in the loss of human nature and the drive to hold on to oneself, to hold on to the good.
Chivanov, because of what the Nazis had done to his family, made him stop abiding by the wartime convention, and had Kaja shoot at German soldiers who were not fetching water during wartime. Moreover, he also killed the Russian girl Martha, just because she was with the German officer.
The German officer Kahn was originally war-weary, but because Chivanov killed Masha in the end, he stormed the house occupied by the Soviet reconnaissance team like a madman.

"We would like to thank our fathers and the fathers of our compatriots, who made us completely ignorant of what war is."

May there be no war in the world in the future.
