I was in poor condition tonight, sitting in the theater with a very low air conditioner temperature. In addition, this is the second movie I watched tonight, and I didn't particularly invest in it. It's a small regret. Hope to watch it again someday when it is better.
About double indemnity, the famous suspense movie, I have heard of it before, and the first impression of this movie is its director and screenwriter Billy Wilder. Billy Wilder, after watching sunset boulevard, this name is deeply imprinted in my mind. The german expressionism style is incisively and vividly played, and the ending scene gave me as much trepidation as any horror movie.
With such preconceived predictions, I thought that double indeminity was such a very stylized film, and I have to say that I am a little disappointed.
First talk about the storyline, the film is adapted from james cain's novel of the same name, co-adapted by billy wilder and raymond chandler. Just read another novel by cain, the postman always rings twice, and was surprised that two short stories written by the same author could be so similar. Single Khan meets a housewife who hates her husband and hates marriage, plots to murder her husband but encounters a series of troubles and finally suffers the consequences. The difference between the two novels is that if the hero and heroine in postman truly love each other from beginning to end or for a moment, the union of the two in double indeminity is purely from the never-ending desire and greed. The reversal of the ending was somewhat unexpected. Wilder and Chandler changed the ending based on the original work. After killing the heroine, the male protagonist committed suicide to some extent.
What surprised me was the appearance of barbara stanwyck in this film. stanwyck is one of my favorite actresses, brown hair, eyes, nose, bone structure is perfect in my heart. So when I first read in the book that post-WWII Hollywood started to use ordinary people actors like stanwyck, I thought it was ridiculous. However, when I saw stanwyck's look in this film, I was relieved, and by the way, I sighed the importance of makeup and lighting. According to legend, wilder took stanwyck to the cheapest wig shop in Hollywood and bought the cheapest blond wig in it. Coupled with the rich pearl mirror lip makeup, stanwyck's awkward image in this film is achieved.
Write so much first, and then add it later.
