the mountain is there

I'm obsessed with mountain climbing movies. This movie is very vivid and shows the state of people climbing, some for ideals, some for fame and fortune; climbers are climbing with their lives, and the audience is watching this as a blockbuster; The people stayed on the mountain forever, and the audience continued to dance in Vanity Fair, occasionally sighing.

The hardest thing in mountaineering is to give up, and the easiest thing to do in the upward process is to continue to climb fearlessly; the biggest challenge is the weather, no matter how high the climbing skills are, no matter how good the physique is, a gust of wind and snow will easily bury it; The most tragic thing is, helpless in the wind and snow between heaven and earth, waiting for life to disappear little by little.

Toni said "I'am cold" at the end, which reminded me of "I'am afraid" that HAL said in the 2001 Odyssey.

The best mountaineering movie I have ever seen, life and death are all aside, only the instinct to survive, the ice and snow are ruthless, and the will can not solve the problem. Life is too fragile in front of nature. When I look at it, I feel uneasy, only fear. At this moment, the Alps can no longer be described in poetic sentences, although they are still beautiful. When Toni finally said "I'm so cold", Hanging in the air, it shocked me deeply.

    1. Let people know what despair is; 2. Never do anything for so-called nationalism, because many people in the "country" will not appreciate or even sympathize with you; 3. When you feel that something should not be done , Don’t do it; 4. Egoism is the real altruism at the critical moment; 5. May their souls rest in peace.

North Face quotes

  • [first lines]

    [in German, quoting English subtitles]

Luise Fellner: [voiceover] When you're at the bottom - Toni once told me - at the foot of the wall, and you look up, you ask yourself: How can anyone climb that? Why would anyone even want to? But hours later when you're at the top looking down, you've forgotten everything. Except the one person you promised you would come back to.

  • [last lines]

    [in German, quoting English subtitles]

Luise Fellner: [voiceover] All I know is that death spared me, and that Toni went away forever that day. One has lived if one has loved. There are times when I find this infinitely hard to believe. Most days I feel that I am alive. And that love is the reason for that.
