The Class Gap Reconciled by Kindness and Tolerance

Very good film, very full of British life style, in general, let's talk about the gap between social classes, the Best couple, Margaret's family, Wilcox's family, respectively represent the lower and middle upper three levels. Poor Best walked a long way through the dark night to the manor, but was ruthlessly killed by the arrogance of the real caste. The author's use of this tragic and ironic ending is undoubtedly strongly critical - even a barren manor in the rich's domain is not something that the poor can afford. In the end, several generations of two families finally reached an agreement to live peacefully together in Howard Manor. The class prejudice and the utopian picture behind the estrangement undoubtedly pinned on the author's idealistic complex. And all this tranquility was exchanged by Margaret with her kindness and tolerance.

Henry Wilcox: The poor are the poor. One is sorry for them, but there it is.

  • Aunt Juley: All the Schlegels are exceptional. They are British to the backbone, of course, but their father was German, which is why they care for literature and art.
