"Rock", a man named Rock drove at midnight, gave up the ball game he had agreed with his two children, and gave up the construction work that had not gone wrong for ten years, despite the fact that the next day there was the largest in Europe. Cement pouring waited for him to supervise, and rushed to a delivery room in London, just because there was a woman he didn't love and a little life who shouldn't have come into this world, yes, his child.

It is another ultra-low cost production, with only one actor and one car in 80 minutes. Throughout the whole play is the non-stop conversation with the wife, son, boss, subordinates, women in labor in London. By the way, there is also the conversation with the bastard father who has long been buried in his mouth - it can be called his self-catharsis. When Locke chooses to pay for the consequences of his overnight romance, the original family love and flourishing career have gradually drifted away from him, which is the consequence he will bear. What's interesting is that in the face of the boss's fury and dismissal, he still promises to ensure that the next day's large-scale cement injection is foolproof. In the face of his wife's accusation, he still guarantees that the newborn is the only product of derailment, and he does not love the child's mother. Indeed, when the mother who was far away in London called Locke again and again and asked him to say: "I love you", all he got was: "How could I possibly love you, we don't know each other at all."

Jumping out of the plot, what Locke did It's hard to understand why. Since there is no love for the mother of the newborn, why allow her to give birth to the child? He even gave up his job to see his children, brought out the truth, and caused an uproar in his beautiful home? What made him make the uncharacteristic choice? Keep reading, and the key dialogue makes it all clear, namely: the non-existent dad. Locke spoke to himself about his childhood experiences. It turned out that he himself was the product of an irresponsible collision between sperm and egg. In childhood, what made Locke even more unacceptable than the identity of an illegitimate child was that his father never let him feel love and did not take due responsibility for him, which aroused little Locke's deep hatred for his father. He beat his children and determined to be a responsible man and never be in the company of his father. Of course, which child does not love his father, only the conscious level of hatred blinds the subconscious level of love, he is so eager to connect with his father. So, even though the adult Locke has a beautiful family with a wife and two sons, he still chooses to cheat and have children, paying tribute to his bastard father in this way.

In the words of Mr. Freud, Locke activated an out-and-out "reverse formation defense mechanism", subconsciously identifying with his father. When talking to the ethereal bastard father for the first time in the play, Locke said, "You must be laughing at me. If there is a father, there must be a son." It is the portrayal of subconsciously agreeing with his father. And the pale second half of the sentence: "I'm different from you, I want you to see how I solve the problem." It is the sign of reverse formation.

What is reverse formation? Grounded gas is explained as "unconscious impulses develop in the opposite direction on the conscious level, and a person's outward behavior or emotional expression is completely opposite to his inner motivational desire." The most common is to hate or hate a person in the heart, but on the surface They are very enthusiastic and caring about this person, or they like a person but show indifference or even disgust for it. In general, as long as the emotional performance is extraordinary, or the performance is extreme, we must consider whether it is a reverse formation.

Back to Locke, his attitude and behavior towards work, family, and the consequences of cheating can be smelled of "reverse formation" in many places. At work, although the boss was furious and officially fired Locke on the phone, he still insisted on communicating with his subordinates about the cement pouring the next day. When he received that the manufacturer cut corners and planned to use C5 to pretend to be C6 pouring, he did not hesitate. Refused. When the police station told him that the road closure the next day would not be settled, he went out in person and persuaded the difficult city council members to agree to the road closure on the phone. When confronted by his wife's accusations when he found out about the affair, he said without hesitation: "I don't love her, I hope it's not a one-way drive." After receiving a call from London's maternity department, he insisted: "I'm not her partner. , just the father of the child." There is no doubt that in front of you is a man who is responsible, has a beginning and an end, and is responsible to the end. All the manifestations are diametrically opposed to the bastard father in his mouth, but it is the "reverse formation defense mechanism" in psychoanalysis, which is precisely the unawareness of the identity of the father's role at the conscious level.

The open ending of the film is expected. After all kinds of tossing and turning all night, finally, the next day's work is arranged properly, the mother and child who are in childbirth are safe and sound, and the family, although the wife who is close to collapse has decided to divorce, but it doesn't matter, as long as When Locke drives home, everything can still be discussed, isn't it? Maybe Locke should really thank his father for his indifference while cursing his father, at least making him want to work hard to be a good man at the conscious level.
