Love this movie, not just because of its quality, but because we love AMY.
One of the advantages of this era of mobile phones and cameras is that we have a large enough amount of audio-visual materials for our favorite idols. Such a rich presentation of audio and video is a wonderful thing. When I watch it, I feel that this is a story from decades ago, or even a hundred years ago, and I feel that this is the story of today or tomorrow. Maybe this is because her talent and pain are not restrained in time. The movie started when AMY sang HAPPY Birthday for her friends when she was a child, her wanton but brewed voice, and her slightly chubby face.
The story of the movie is well known to us, how she became famous with her unstoppable talent, how she shined, how she made Yi Xiao haggard, how she became the flashlight and the public enemy of the media, how after several attempts to cheer up / finally left us. Although we all know her story, it was really sad and heart-wrenching when we saw the second half. From her talents to alcohol, gluttony, boyfriends, and drugs, the film presents her life in chronological order, transitioning and distinguishing with the performance of several of her famous songs. The richness of audio and video keeps her life completely organized, preserving the integrity of the story and keeping a distance from her life is where the film does a good job, but for me, it's still not enough. . What I want to see more is her behind the video. Of course, this is a little lacking in the documentary. It is a matter of feature films that are good at sensationalism.
I like the way she sings, she's there, but she's not there.
We can still see her heart in the film. It was as if all she wanted all her life was to stay with the people she loved, ignoring her dazzling talent; she always wanted to disappear from the world; her unbridled joy and pain. These are not explained by simple childhood absences of fathers, bulimia, and dependence on alcohol and drugs. She is an angel named devil, a devil named angel.
Her beauty is not like the decline of Han Li, she is as fascinating as Greco-Roman mythology: Once, Cupid coveted AMY's talent, with its only weapon - bow and arrow - shot at her fiercely, An arrow of love, but it shot through her body. At the moment when her breath is still there, we can still see the shadow of Venus and Mars in her, beauty, and the power of flaming life. .
PS. Three nights ago, I went to listen to Marc Thoms perform at a CAFÉ in District 6, friends said he was a famous person. Listening to live jazz at night feels like living in a dream. Reminds me of those summer nights in the past, when I poured half a glass of vodka and lay down on the bed while drinking, playing three songs over and over. Two are from AMY, Love Is a Losing Game and To Know Him Is To Love Him. The other is Billie Holiday, I'm a fool to want you. The night wind is blowing, and the two of them are the pain in my heart.
