In form, the documentary "Salt of the Earth" by Wim Wenders and his colleagues is unmistakably simple: a chronological account of the life and work of Brazilian photographer Sebastian Salgado. However, it is admirable and unexpected that the film contains deep and strong emotions and shocking power in a simple form.

Through the photos taken by Sebastian, this documentary tells the stories of our kind, and at the same time, through the film, we also see the story of Sebastian himself.

Like a prism, a good film can reflect different colors. In this documentary, I saw the ugly, but also the beauty; I saw death, and I saw survival; I saw the lowliness and cruelty of human beings, and I also saw the greatness and kindness of human beings; I saw the future of human beings, and I also saw to the meaning of life.

Human beings are the salt of the earth, and life is the taste of life.

The Salt of the Earth, a great documentary.

The Salt of the Earth quotes

  • Sebastião Salgado - Photographer: We are a ferocious animal. We humans are terrible animals. Our history is a history of wars. It's an endless story, a tale of madness.

  • Sebastião Salgado - Photographer: To think that these three-month-old trees will reach their apex in 400 years. Perhaps from there we could try to grasp the concept of eternity. Maybe eternity is measurable.
