Opinions on the film's strengths and weaknesses, and a reasonable outlook for the series' future development

As the latent 3, which everyone has high hopes for, everyone was worried before it was released. After all, the director of the first two films, James Wen, did not direct, and the evaluation of the film after its release was also mixed. But one consensus is that it is definitely not as good as the first two works.
From the perspective of a loyal fan of the series, let's briefly list the highlights and shortcomings of this and the first two works.

Highlight 1: Surprise surprise in the aspect of scaring the audience, and reasonably make use of the inconvenience of movement after the car accident and the visual blind spot after the neck is fixed to make a fuss, which is very innovative.

Highlight 2: The visual effects are rich and highly integrated with the content. Especially the broken hands and feet, the design of the faceless woman is very terrifying, and the image expresses the degree of erosion of the heroine's soul.

Highlight 3: The return of classic characters, and the connection with the previous two works in terms of worldview and plot is reasonable. I won't go into detail about this, it's natural to see it. I believe that when the red-faced demon appears at the end, the old audience of the series will be surprised first and then happy.
Now let me tell you what I think the film lacks.
Less than 1: Screenwriting problem. The script was not designed carefully enough, and many interesting side plots did not achieve the effect of promoting the main plot. For example: 1. Neighbor's rambling old woman, I thought I could see her in the underworld, but unfortunately I didn't. 2. The role of the younger brother is superfluous, and the only function is to bring out the ghost hunter and the two fools. In fact, if this part of the plot of the younger brother is used to show the gap between father and daughter in detail, the film should be more compact. Thinking back to the first two films, Wen Ziren didn't even give his second brother a chance to be on camera.

Shortcoming 2: The ability of the director to tell the story is still slightly lacking. The high evaluation of the first part of Lurk is because it has done a good job in terms of creativity and atmosphere, and its storytelling ability is worthy of careful taste. Many people even realized it after reading the analysis post. Therefore, horror films must tell a good story, and this core is the reason why people can walk out of the cinema and get chills on their backs. And this one is a lot more bland, and the general plot of each link can be expected. Maybe the only intention is to exorcise the old woman's husband to make a cameo in the underworld.

Finally, after talking about the pros and cons, my overall opinion of this film is that the director is limited (if the screenwriter has problems, you can ask him to go back and change the script), and the storytelling ability is not as good as James Wen. But the style of the series is still there, and the plot can be reasonably connected. Worth watching for fans of the series.
In fact, if there is no Zhuyu from the first two films, just watching this film will feel like a good surprise, what do you think?

_ Guess what sequels and sequel content may develop in the future.

Now it seems that there will undoubtedly be a sequel to the latent series. The basis is the box office performance. Whether it is North America or Asia, it is the No. 1 box office of the week without suspense. Reasons to cut off this

series Then in the sequel plot, I think it is very likely to target the red face.
Because in the first two works that completely told the story of a family exorcising ghosts, the foreshadowing that James Wen set in Lurk 1 was performed in Lurk 2. The only exception is the red-faced goblin. And it appears at the end of this episode, which shows that he has a deep bond with the psychic old lady.
Here are a few plot mysteries that you can consider together.

1. From the time line, the psychic old lady decided to continue to exorcise the underworld in order to help others since she broke the demon, so why did the old lady know that the evil spirit is powerful in Lurk 1, so she did not personally astral projection, but called it already sealed A father who has been able to save his son for many years.

2. The psychic old lady said that after being occupied by the evil spirits of the underworld, the souls who lost their bodies will wander in the underworld, but why is the little boy in the underworld imprisoned with a red face in the underworld? And the red face didn't do anything to the little boy, would he just use the little boy as a bait to attract someone?

That's all I can think of for the time being, I'll add new ideas later.
