French gentleman Madeo (Fernando Rey Fernando Rey) was returning home by car in Spain. In the carriage, he met a mother and daughter, a dwarf and a friend of his younger brother. Before the train started, a woman (Molina Angela) came in a hurry with her luggage, and Madeo poured a bucket of cold water on her, which made everyone puzzled. After returning to the carriage, Madeo told others about his experience: it turned out that the woman was Conchita (Carole Bouquet), the Spanish maid of Madeo's brother's house. Her beauty was deeply attracted to Madeo. In order to show his love, he financed the Conzita mother and daughter to get rid of financial difficulties, and then offered to make her his lover. Although, Conchita gave him half a push, but he never agreed to his sexual request. This annoyed him, especially when he found out that the woman who claimed to be a virgin actually had another lover...
In this film, the Spanish director Buñuel played the same role with two actresses, which is quite symbolic.

In a cycle of separation and overlap, the heroine is the embodiment of obscure desires, ambiguous, capricious, and insatiable desires that torture the hero and play with the audience's expectations. Terrorism is ubiquitous on the streets, and the mysterious burlap bag is like a box in a beauty by day. In the last one, Buñuel is always torn between tearing and making up, starting with a ripped eye and ending with a silk that is perfectly stitched together.
