These kinds of films are not about perfection, but as a shot in the arm for those of us who are struggling on the edge of self-doubt.

Many people compare this film with the ordinary hearts of the same period. Compared with the usual heart and once upon a time, this one is more positive and clear, because it is not about AIDS, and some small details are deliberately dropped, but after all, this is a movie, not a documentary.

As I get older, I like to watch these gay movies more and more, especially the group portrait movies, which may give me some hints that there are a large group of people like myself outside. In the past, a large group of people lived in that era of homophobia and serious discrimination. Now, although I am still in the closet, I can feel that the views of the people around me have become much more open to gays.

That being said, there is still a long way to go. Just yesterday, a rotten girlfriend sent me WeChat articles, which she claimed were very professional articles. It seems that it was written by a rotten girl who knows GAY, and there is a paragraph in it:
"Actually, I often see straight men scolding gays and perverts. It's really not that they are intolerant, it's because of physical Scream from the bottom of my heart. How disgusting they swear is, most of them are disgusting in their hearts, the little wife's gay honey is pure gay, she can't look at girls' breasts at all, and I almost vomit when I read this porn magazine..."

See? Even though the author of this article has many gay friends, he is still illogically justifying (even unconsciously) discrimination against gays. In fact, her last sentence can refute her previous argument. I am also pure gay, and I hate seeing women naked, but I didn't call women ugly and disgusting creatures.

This example is just to illustrate that even in China, even in developed coastal cities, even among young people who often use "gaoji" as a harmless buzzword, the fairness of attitudes towards gays still needs to be improved.

In social psychology, to know is to like. There are not enough comrades in daily contact with Chinese people. Comrades are not the hard-working colleagues they can see every day, the friends who drink and play billiards with them, or their cousins who live a healthy and free life, but they are sometimes in movies. A concept (often distorted) seen on the Internet is a term they use to joke about every day (and they don't know anything about the group of people the term represents).

My lovely straight male and straight female colleagues have all been exposed to Western culture and education, and most of them have the experience of studying abroad, but this does not prevent them from having all kinds of lovely speculative innocence towards gays (but it may cause harm) ), and as I said earlier, I am a deep cabinet, so I often join and even lead them on the topic of comradeship as "one of them". They do not understand 100% of the feelings of comrades, but they claim that they will not discriminate, but they are often sarcastic in their words.

Their understanding of gays is limited to "my friend's friend is a sissy". Because when most of us are in the closet, those who can be seen and guessed to be homosexuals are the type with a particularly obvious bottom, so the gays in their eyes become such a group (actually sisy is cute sometimes, but straight guys don't want to know about it). As a straight man, they will involuntarily despise gays, and then stand on a high point, claiming that they will not discriminate.

Gays are another mysterious group for them. Their remarks that exalt gays are: "Gays are high-end people, because ordinary people at the low end can't choose this way of life" and "Gays are better than ordinary people because they combine the advantages of men and women.” This is another unintentional harm, because such remarks not only easily arouse the condemnation of those who are homophobic, but also exacerbate the alienation of the gay community. And what we want to do is to integrate into society as an ordinary group.

I cry like a pussy every time I watch this kind of movie, not because I am grateful that these people in the past have won us this not loose but greatly improved environment, but because these movies have taught me self-esteem. Discrimination from the outside world does not directly destroy a person, it often shakes your beliefs, assimilates your thoughts, and then makes you self-loathing and self-destructive. And this kind of movie keeps telling me that you are a whole human being, like everyone else, someone with all kinds of flaws but worthy of your respect, and in a way, you are a stronger human being, you will live well.

It would be great if you and I in adolescence could understand this truth.

Ah, when will this wind of freedom blow into our lives, with flesh and dignity, for all for me, and for all for me. I love London so much. I feel envied and embarrassed to think that we are still living in such a quiet society. Interesting and touching work, this year's first five-star Oscar season!

  • Bromley: They called us perverts.

Mark: Bromley, it's time for an important part of your education. Hands up, in this room, if you've ever been called a name like that.

[all the guys raise their hands]

Mark: Now, there is a long and honorable tradition in the gay community and it has stood us in good stead for a very long time. When somebody calls you a name... am I right Jonathan?

    Jonathan: Dead right.

Mark: You take it and own it.
