Do you know why the heroine has never been found

When I first started watching it, I felt that the movie didn't know what it was talking about. It felt like it was constantly paving the way. Two parallel people living in the same world always just missed it, as if there was no possibility of intersection. Just like the city we live in now, the world of reinforced concrete, the only small apartment, day after day for living.
The "will" is mentioned many times in the story, and I wonder why this will can't be found no matter how much I look for it in the crowd. But in the end, she met Will. When the power went out that day, they both went to buy candles and met accidentally, and broke the wall of their apartment into a window, and finally met on social networks and met again.
And it's like we all live in such a parallel but not parallel world, isn't it?
