The Vulnerable Human

I felt apprehensive indeed after watching the movie named The Langoliers. Humans lacking the food, water, oxygen or sunlight would die and everything created by humans would fade from time to time. In addition, we can't predict that is a disaster or a surprise when we face to the undiscovered universe.
The Langoliers as a science fiction film is not attractive enough and there are so many mistakes logically. In spite of these weakness, the movie reminds us to continuously explore and never stop.
Ten passengers in a Boeing767 to Boston found other passengers disappeared. Then they reached the parking apron where the time was still and escaped there before the langoliers ate everything of the space where time is still. Finally, six passengers came back to the world where the time is flowing through the time gap.
Time can destroy everything. The langoliers is just the symbol of the time. Mr.Toomey is one of the passengers who was scared in his childhood by his father's story of the langoliers, which the langoliers would eat the lazy one wasting time. Because of the cruel education, Mr.Toomey succeeded but had the Schizophrenia. Even though he cherished time, he was killed by the langoliers finally.
We are so weak that we need be together to solve the problem. Under the cruel reality, we should try to make ourselves glad and love others. Love is a comfort for helpless humans. If we only work hard like Mr.Toomey and worry about a lot, we must feel painful. Everyone would be killed by the time eventually. So, enjoy our life without regret.
There are too many unknown things in the universe that pose a threat to us. Therefore we can never stop to explore and innovate. Last week, I had a gastric ulcer and felt very painful at night. Then I went to the hospital to get some medicine. Now I feel better. If there is not the medicine for gastric ulcer, I could be more painful and lose my life probably. So, we have to discover secrets of the nature and prepare well for unknown possibilities. For example, the consequence of running out of petroleum will be very terrible if we find no succedaneum.
At last, I'd like to talk about something about education. The purpose of education is that we can be mentally healthy and shape our characters. Mr.toomey had the Schizophrenia so that he killed two passengers. When the langoliers would eat him, none wanted to save him. He became a monster that can not be accepted by the other passengers. Mr.toomey's father should take charge of the consequence because of his cruel education. Mr.toomey had been abnormal since he was a little boy.
Maybe The Langoliers as a science fiction film is not fantastic. However, we recognize that humans are vulnerable after watching this film. The time has strong power to control us. And the universe is so mysterious. Humans have to face all the difficulty for being alive . We have no choice. I believe that we can make a miracle.

The Langoliers quotes

  • Bob Jenkins: Let's say that every now and then a hole appears in the stream of time. Not a time-warm. A rip. A time rip. A rip in the central fabric.

Don Gaffney: That's the craziest thing I ever heard of!

    Craig Toomy: Amen!

Bob Jenkins: Mr. Gaffney, the situation we're in right now, this is crazy. So let's say that such rips do occur every now and then. It would be similar to rare weather phenomenons that are reported. Upside-down tornadoes, circular rainbows, daytime starlight.

Captain Brian Engle: The aurora borealis.

Bob Jenkins: [Bob looks to Brian in surprise] What?

Captain Brian Engle: There was an aurora borealis over the Mojavi Desert when we left LAX. We were supposed to fly right into it.

Bob Jenkins: Then that's it. An auroa over the desert. That strengthens my point. If we were to fly into that, and it was a time-rip then that means we're no longer in our own time, ladies and gentlemen.

  • Don Gaffney: [listening to Jenkins' time rip theory] That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.

    Craig Toomy: Amen!
