forever grace

For a film, write a running water.
Most of the recent blockbusters and small films are dazzling, but I still miss the afternoon when I went to the theater alone with coffee to watch "Princess of Monaco". Compared with hyped commercial films, I prefer the warmth of literary films. There are no high-level special effects, and only one frame and one sentence are deeply moved to the lacrimal glands. That's why whenever someone asks me which type of film I like, I choose European humanities films without hesitation. It's been ten years and it hasn't changed.
Back to the story itself, the Cannes opening film, typical of European nostalgia, and despite the age gap, you can't find a more suitable actor to play than Nicole (from the blond physical resemblance to the nobility of inner elegance) Grace Kelly of that era. I am a Hitchcock fan, and I have always thought that Grace in his early works was suspected of being a vase. Hitchcock is really beautiful and has experienced female starring skills (such as "Bird" and "North by Northwest", which I like personally.) They were all after Grace married in Europe and retired from filming, including the "Bad Thief" mentioned in the movie that passed by with the princess.
Imagine if she didn't become a princess, Grace as a Hitchcock girl might be more classic, and even become an actress that Hollywood generation can't surpass. But the truth is, when you give up your dreams and go for reality, you must have the courage and courage to "do as the locals do" to take on the role that reality has given you. A good actor is more emotional than an ordinary person, and the role of a princess requires her to be more than an ordinary person. More rational, what kind of words, what kind of things to do, every frown and smile are deeply political. What's more, she is "the princess of the turbulent kingdom of Monaco". Therefore, it is more painful and difficult for her to be a princess than a normal person. On the one hand, she has to overcome her typical open-minded American character, and on the other hand, she has to fight against the conspiracy of the court. She has to learn the conservative and feminine wisdom of Europe and maintain her love. and family. Seeing tired hearts, seeing tangle, seeing tears. . .
The close-up of the stubborn eyes at the end reminded me of another oriental woman with a strong political role - Song Meiling. Fate is somehow similar. "You have to know that your whole life is the role of the mother of the country. You must be able to conquer politics and defeat the enemy with your beauty, wisdom and grace." What a cruel and convincing life.

Grace of Monaco quotes

  • Grace: Maybe I'm naive, but I believe in fairytales. I do, I believe they can exist if we really want them to. If, if we're prepared to work hard enough. I believe that the world will not always be full of hatred and conflict, if we're willing to sacrifice enough.

  • Francis Tucker: [in a letter] Long after I'm gone, long after the House of Grenaldie has fallen, the world is going to remember your name, your Highness. You are the fairytale, the serenity to which we all aspire. And peace will come when you embrace the roles you have been destined to play: devoted mother, loyal wife, compassionate leader. Up against a task larger than yourself, you will overcome your fears. Those that preceded you will be forgotten. Those that follow you will be inspired by your strength and endurance. For no matter where you are in years to come, they will continue to whisper your name, the Princess Grace.
