When night fell, four people walked out of the wooden house. This is a slum near the South African capital Johannesburg. When passing through the crowd, someone jokingly called the Tsotsi gang boss.
They came to the city's subway station, looked for targets in the crowd, and chose a middle-aged man in a suit and tie. They surrounded him on the subway, Daggerboy threatened the man with a dagger, and the others began to search him for valuables. When the man resisted a little, Dagger Boy directly killed him with a dagger. When the subway arrived at the station, the passengers got off one after another, leaving only the man's body in the empty carriage.
They go back to the tavern in the slum, which is probably their daily life. The little teacher couldn't face this killing. He was talking about the topic of dignity and their dignified life. In anger, Tsotsi beat the little teacher directly, almost to death.
Tsotsi ran out of the tavern by himself and ran across a wilderness, thinking back to the same run he did as a child. On a dark rainy night, the concrete pipes on the edge of the city are full of homeless children. He continued to run to a luxurious residence, where a middle-aged woman just drove home and rang the doorbell. He threatened the other party with a pistol to grab the car. The woman was about to rush into the car to fight him, but he shot and wounded the other party and drove away.
After driving for a while, he heard the baby's cry coming from the back seat of the car. He picked up the valuables in the car and took it away, ready to give up the car, but the baby's cry still stopped him, and finally he used a pocket Came home with some baby gear and babies in the car.
When I woke up the next morning, I smelled the bad smell and remembered the baby I brought back yesterday. He awkwardly threw away the baby's diaper and wrapped the child directly in newspaper. After feeding the baby with a box of goo, his little friend came to him, and he also covered up the fact that there was a child hidden in the house.
In the evening they met again at the subway station when a lame beggar in a wheelchair caught his attention. He didn't meet up with his friends. He followed the beggar to the beggar's residence. He thought the beggar was pretending. He kicked over the beggar's money jar, forced the beggar with a gun, and tried to make the beggar stand up. When he confirmed that the beggar was really disabled, he asked, "Then why do you keep living like this." The beggar replied, "I like the sun shining on my body.
" The teacher continued his discussion of dignity. Do you know dignity? The big gang leader said of course I do, but if you want to be dignified, you must do dignified things. Like you, you are indulging in alcohol all day long, talking about dignity.
On the other side, the woman injured by David was recuperating in the hospital, and the police also painted a portrait of the suspect. The hotel proprietress came in with the wanted notice in the newspaper. The figure on the wanted notice was very similar to Tsotsi, saying that he injured a person and stole the other party's car and a baby. She asked her friends if this was Tsotsi. They thought Tsotsi couldn't drive, and they all denied that it was Tsotsi.
When I got home, I was hungry for a day. The child had the goo that Tsotsi fed him on his mouth, and his face was covered with ants, crying in pain. He broke into the home of a neighbouring young mother and forced her to feed her baby at gunpoint. The young mother fed the baby and gave it back to him after giving him a bath.
He let the young mother breastfeed again. The warm scene reminded him of his childhood. His real name was David. His mother had an infectious disease, his father did not let her close to his mother, and his father was an alcoholic. On a rainy night, he fled from his home. During the conversation, he also learned that the young mother's husband was killed by gangsters on his way off night shift. The young mother asked him to leave the child here in her care.
He came to the small hotel to find her friends. The hotel owner blamed him for beating the little teacher like that and not letting him take the little teacher away. He scolded the hotel owner for only letting the little teacher spend money on drinking. The little teacher who often got drunk on the street was always taken care of by him. They took the little teacher back to the hut. They seemed to have a new idea of life. They could get some money for the little teacher to go to school and realize their dreams.
He took Chubby and Daggerboy and came to the baby's house again. They kidnapped the male owner. Tsotsi went to the baby room to collect baby supplies. Daggerboy was busy searching for all kinds of gold and silver, and found a pistol at the same time. Chubby was busy eat and drink. The hostess rang the alarm when they were not prepared, and Daggerboy was shot by Tsots when he was about to kill the hostess.
Tsots and Xiao Pang drove away and sold the car to the big gang leader. Facing the killed Dagger Boy and the half-beaten teacher, Xiao Pang did not want to continue to hang out with Tsots.
Tsots came to the young mother with the money from the car and a lot of toys. The young mother already knew the origin of the child, and she persuaded David to return the child to his mother. David took the child away.
He took the children to the concrete pipe where street children live, and he told them that a certain water pipe was where he lived.
In the end, he decided to return the child to his parents. He came to the house, put the child down, and rang the doorbell. When the owner came down, the police also came after hearing the news, and the scene was deadlocked. Eventually the child's father persuaded him to give the child to himself.
At the end of the play, Tsots raised his hands aloft.
