This is a movie suitable for Korean audiences

The mainland version of this film is 20 minutes shorter than the Korean version. Since the landlord hasn't seen the Korean version, I really don't know which parts have been cut, but it is presumed that it is concentrated in the naval battle (that's called a fragmented one). , to the island Tonghao is about to become a deep well of ice).
But that didn't stop the film from being a success. The first is the scene. The depiction of the Japanese army's clothing and weapons is quite detailed, such as the helmets of Anji Wakisaka and Takato Todo, which are very realistic. Not to mention the North Korean army, from the armor to the bows and arrows used have a high degree of reduction. Of course, some people still pointed out that the equipment in it is too sophisticated (especially the North Korean side), but as a movie, it is absolutely impossible to completely restore the real scene, which is also understandable.
The most successful part of the film is the depiction of the psychological state of the characters during the war. Some people think that Yi Sun-sin's expressionless face is actually a misunderstanding of the historical background at that time. Yi Sun-sin was actually a superhero who was invincible at sea in the Battle of Moon Luqingchang (Aid Korea and Resist Japanese), but he fell into the hands of his own people. After the Battle of Boon Rok, Yi Sun-sin, due to his high merits, repeatedly disobeyed the orders of the imperial court, and at the same time fell into a party strife, and was falsely accused of being thrown into prison. His mother tragically passed away during this period, and Yi Sun-sin almost lost his mind (it was also mentioned many times in his anthology). After that, the North Korean Navy was annihilated in the Qicheonyang army under the incompetent command of Yuan Jun (if it was not for the negative character Pei Qi in the film who led 12 Panokyo out of the battle before the war, the North Korean Navy would have almost no soldiers available), Yi Sun-sin He lost his arm who had fought together for many years (Li Yiqi, etc., in the film Yi Sun-shin had nightmares), and he suffered heavy losses at the peak of his life, and his grief and anger can be seen. Under such circumstances, the imperial court ordered him to take over the North Korean Navy again. What kind of difficulties and pressures he faced! It is conceivable that Yi Sun-sin would have doubts about himself due to the entanglement and pain in his heart at that time, which is why he almost collapsed at the beginning of the film. Since then, Yi Sun-sin has shouldered a huge burden, and he can only bear it with all his strength. This kind of hardship has been very well explained in the film.
Before the Battle of Mingliang, the North Korean army, regardless of the army, the navy, the civilian army, and the monk soldiers, had failed successively and was on the verge of collapse. It was under such circumstances that Yi Sun-sin fought back. But before he went to war, he was actually ready to repay the country with his death. In his letter to the court, Yi Sun-sin wrote, "Although the warships are few, if the ministers do not die, they will not dare to insult me", expressing his attitude. Therefore, the most shocking scene in this film is the scene of the 12 panok boats of the navy going on an expedition.
In contrast, Yi Sun-sin in the naval battle appeared to be more mechanized. Although the entire battle scene was magnificent, it might not be as powerful as the first half due to the scissors. Japanese army general Takato Todo, deputy general Kato Yoshiaki (the Chinese subtitles were also mistakenly translated as Kato Kiyomasa, I was at a loss, Kato Kiyosaka actually nodded and bowed to Tengtang Takato?!), Anji Wakisaka were all spectators, and only came here. Shimatsuko is more active (perhaps to avenge Kojimatsu?), but he only helped out by jumping in the wind. As for bombing ships and the like, I always feel that the director has played too much in the Age of Empires.

At the end of the film, a boatman asked: "Will our descendants remember the hardships we suffered?" One replied: "If they don't remember this, then they are really sons of a bitch." reveal the true purpose of the film. For the South Korean people, the spiritual power represented by Yi Sun-sin is very important, and it is the source of the Korean nation's strength to survive in a desperate situation. On the military emblem of the South Korean Navy today, the turtle shape (symbolizing the turtle ship) is still retained, which is to alert all Chinese people and always maintain the courage to fight. From this point of view, the film is very successful, and it is not surprising that it can create a miracle at the domestic box office. But for Chinese audiences (especially those who lack knowledge of this period of history), this film is more like a bleak and tasteless film. The characters, time and cause and consequences are lacking in explanation, and it is very likely that they will be confused after watching it.

Finally, the seemingly unlikely 12 against 300 is mainly due to our lack of understanding of the war at the time. The performance of the Japanese ships is actually far inferior to that of the North Korean ships. The number of artillery pieces is very small. The main weapon is the iron cannon (that is, the musket in the film). The North Korean navy not only had a large number of artillery pieces (according to the records, the smallest Panoksa also had 12 artillery pieces), but also had very good bows and arrows at that time, and its combat effectiveness at sea was significantly stronger than that of the Japanese army. In the previous Battle of Wenlu, the Japanese navy was repeatedly attacked by the Korean navy, and nearly wiped out the entire army. Eventually, the Japanese army lacked sea supplies and the overall operation failed.
In addition to the ship's performance, it is also very important for the Korean army to occupy favorable terrain and hydrological conditions in the Mingliang naval battle. The narrowest point of Mingliang Strait is only 250 meters, and Japanese warships cannot be deployed at all. During the battle, the turbulent waters made the Japanese warships lose their mobility and interfered with each other, and was finally repelled by Yi Sun-sin with an absolutely inferior force.
But when it comes to the most fundamental reason, it is that the gap between the generals' abilities of the two sides is too great. Yi Sun-sin not only knew himself and his opponent, but also aroused the morale of the army and made all troops fight in unity; the Japanese army was impetuous, lacking courage, and commanding confusion (Tengtang Gaohu must bear the blame, from the actual combat point of view, the real name of this cheap Yue Qiben gunman is not true ), the core of the war is people, and when the two armies meet, the brave wins. This is the ultimate secret of Yi Sun-sin's victory.
In the eyes of later generations, the Mingliang naval battle is a miracle in the naval battle. Togo Heihachiro once said that Yi Sun-sin is unsurpassable, and the respect from enemy countries may be the best endorsement of his greatness.
In the subsequent Luliang naval battle, Yi Sun-sin cooperated with the Chinese naval forces to defeat the Japanese army Shimazu Yoshihirobu, but he himself was killed by a stray bullet in the battle, and was later named a first-class hero by the Koreans.

Probably I can feel the high point of the Korean audience, after all, it is something of national pride. The film can at least make this war very passionate, and the bugs or exaggerated parts actually serve this kind of passion, so that it will be more exciting. However, this war always feels chaotic. It's a bit nonsense.

Facial blindness means that the first half is really confusing, and the characters don't match up. The naval battle part is actually quite good, the most touching is when the people are twisted together. The most impressive line is "what should I do with such deep hatred". PS: I just found out today that I thought Park Bo Gum was Lee Hyun Woo? ! ! ! !
