Three "revenge" lines (with spoilers)

Park Chan-wook's revenge trilogy, I read it backwards. Each has its own characteristics, and there is no need to criticize it for being commercialized and vulgar because of the more money it spends in the future. "Kind Gold" and "Old Boy" are excellent actors, plot, camera and soundtrack. Looking from the back to the front, it can be found that the director's style and purpose in each film are different. The revenge in "Gold" feels like an innate criminal beauty, while the old boy is more ethical and mysterious. There are some similarities in the two films as a whole. In fact, I think this kind of similar feeling Much credit should be given to the soundtrack and Choi Min-sik's two appearances. That's what makes "I Want My Vengeance," a stark contrast to these two flamboyant blockbusters: a film that fully embodies the director's personality and philosophy.

There are three "revenge" lines in the film: the green-haired boy Yoo's revenge against the organ black market dealer, Dong-jin's revenge for losing his daughter against Yoo and Young-mi, and Young-mi's accomplices' revenge against Dong-jin. Each line does not come out of thin air, it has its own reasons.

Ryu's green hair hints at the beginning that he is "different". He should be a deaf-mute with a talent for painting. From the very beginning, we learned that "his sister gave up her studies to make money in order for him to go to the Academy of Fine Arts and was admitted to the hospital due to illness", so this cruel story began. To him, it seems that deafness is the root of everything: because of the deafness, his world is quiet, he can sleep peacefully in a noisy home, and work without earmuffs in a deafening factory; and Because of his deafness, he may not be able to read books, hear his sister's pained moans, or hear the little girl's cry. He is like an onlooker who "doesn't know the truth" and "hard to say", who can only use painting to tell people what they see and feel. He is kind and pitiful, and believes in the black market's lie that "if you give us a kidney, we will find a kidney for your sister", so he lost the 10 million (about RMB 50,000) he had worked so hard to save. After his sister committed suicide, he thought it was the black market's fault and went to avenge them. The once kind-hearted man was actually fearless in the face of blood. However, I have to reflect here: why does he believe in the small advertisements of organ trading? Why trust a bloated anatomist who can't even give himself an injection? Did the doctor's indifference discourage him, or did he really think the fat-headed people would help him?

Dongjin's appearance is more interesting. At the beginning, when Liu was fired, a half-haired old man gave him his resignation letter, but when one of the dismissed employees cut his belly and cried, it was Dongjin who stopped him. It seems he is the real boss. When asked by the police about his fortune and fortune, Dong-jin replied, "I have always lived upright." If he really lived upright, then it may not be his fault that triggered the dismissal of the workers, and the reason for the dismissal is not mentioned in the film. After his daughter was kidnapped by Liu in some way, she never made a noise to find her father. It can be seen that there should not be much communication between Dongjin and his daughter. In addition to the superior family environment, he does not seem to be able to provide enough fatherly love. The only hopeful scene in the film is when he finds out that the boy from the suicidal employee's family still has a chance of life, and is immediately sent to the hospital. Of course, in the end hope was dashed. Everything is so desperate, and all that remains is revenge, revenge, revenge. The policeman in charge of the case was also troubled by financial problems, so he had to reach a compromise with Dongjin, collect his money, and turn a blind eye to his revenge behavior. This is another absurd setting. Dong Jin, who was initially thought to be a domineering president, shows slightly clumsy hands and feet and a loving father throughout the film, but when he kills Liu at the end, he trembles and says "I know you are a kind person, because you are kind, So you should know why I killed you?", which is like a boss saying "I know you are a good employee, but I have to fire you".

As for Yingmei, she faced a "verdict" on the computer in her first appearance. She is arguably the most mysterious character in the entire film: no parents, no relatives, no occupation are mentioned, and the police's claim that she was a radical leftist casts a layer of mystery on her. veil. Her kidnapping philosophy is very unique: we just bring the child over and ask for money, and when the money arrives, we return the child, and we each get what we want, which is great. Maybe the child doesn't want to go back after having a good time with us? Parents who haven't seen their children for a few days will also bond with their children better when they meet again. It was originally a criminal act, but she said it so naturally that I was persuaded at the time. She is like an orphan abandoned by society and turned into a rebel in the process of her own upbringing. She was unafraid of organ traders, handing them out leaflets. Before Dongjin died, he remembered what Yingmei said before his death: I am a member of a certain terrorist group. If I die, their companions will seek revenge on you. Dong-jin finally looked at the paper he had pinned to his chest, maybe he wanted to know why he died. I didn't see exactly what was written on the paper, but if what was written on this piece of paper was the same as what was typed on the computer when Yingmei first came out, it would be a beginning and end echo. The general content of the paper is as follows: "The Minister of Labor of XXX sentenced the Minister of Labor of XXX to death for the crime of ZZZ because he applied to the police to suppress the strikers during the strike, resulting in the death of two workers A and B --- XXX Alliance ". This piece of paper is stuck on Dong Jin's chest and also on the real "Minister XXX".

After being stabbed by a knife, the black market trader called the bloated woman "Mom" when he collapsed. It is very likely that this is a deformed family gang that specializes in bloody professions for a living. They take kidneys out of sight, unknown buyers buy from them, then they look for kidneys, and it's a vicious cycle of filth. The mother teaches the son, and the son may teach the next generation. They defraud poor people out of money by indiscriminate ways, but who is in command behind this? And the ugly and disabled man who appeared frequently by the river. He appeared in a deformed posture, always making trouble, and taking the most beautiful thing from the poor little girl - the necklace, who is he? The indifferent doctor told Liu with a stern face that his blood type did not match. Did he feel hopeless as a doctor by doing so? And when the doctor told Liu that there was a donor with a slightly hopeful face, was Liu full of despair again? Does all this remind us of a deformed and indifferent society. Are the three people in the film, including Liu's sister, victims of such a society? Who always makes us despair when we are full of hope, and who makes us despair after taking everything from us in the name of hope? Who was happily playing a plane next door when we were groaning with sickness like Liu's sister? Who made us deaf and dumb, made us unable to hear, made us unable to speak, blinded us and treated me like a fool?

When Liu pulled up Yingmei's already cold right hand, I couldn't help but burst into tears. He didn't have a kidney, and he didn't get timely help after being stabbed. Maybe even if Dongjin didn't kill him, he wouldn't be able to survive. This film lacks hope and reliance from beginning to end. Yoo's older sister has a deaf-mute younger brother who has to take care of him even as an adult; Yoo has lost her sister and Young-mi; Dong-jin, who has long since divorced, lost her daughter; Young-mi seems to be alone from the beginning. They all fought back like those who had lost hope, but they all seemed to be on the wrong side. What we think of hope, what we think of a good life, what we think of hatred, are all ludicrous delusions under the shroud of an invisible black palm.
