He lives a poor life but is full of joy, and he is slowly concerned about the growth of the little monk. And he always does something and doesn't.
For the little monk's cruelty to small animals when he was a child, he tied the little monk's body like a stone. When the little monk knew the suffering of animals and saw the death of animals one after another, he burst into tears. This is what the old monk did.
ps: I don't believe that human nature is inherently evil. We are evil, just because we can't empathize with it. This is an ability called empathy. This requires awakening and deep digging. It's human nature to be evil that we have no empathy, see the bad but remain indifferent.
For the young monk when he was young, he experienced the ultimate in love. When the young monk resolutely decided to go down the mountain, the old monk had no objection: he knew that the young monk left in the middle of the night, and he acquiesced. This is his inaction.
He sighed when he saw the news that the middle-aged monk killed his wife and escaped while begging. Then in the middle of the night, he took out the little monk's clothes and sewed them together. In the face of the anger of the little monk, he was struggling in the pool and shouting "Master, Master", but he just watched and did nothing. When the little monk mutilated himself, he whipped the little monk and hung the little monk to do something. Then he wrote something about the Heart Sutra, and asked the little monk to carve it with a knife overnight. In fact, what relieves our anger is that when we are doing something mechanically for a long time, our attention is shifted, and things will eventually ease our anger.
When the young monk was taken away by the police, the old monk kept looking at the young monk and wanted to say goodbye. The little monk did not turn his head, but he stopped the boat—until the little monk turned back.
The actions and inactions of the old monks actually show the transparency of the old monks.
In the end, the old monk set himself on fire on the boat. When he burst into tears, it was the most shocking.
The old monk loves life, loves the kitten, and cares for the little monk: if there is no love, people will not be so delicate. But he chose suicide.
This encounter life.
