Beibei's Movie World: http://blog.sina.com.cn/bblovesmovies
I like the saturated colors of the film very much, each color is extremely full, and the contrast between the colors is also strong. This way of expression, as well as the unique way of narrating the story, the more I read it, the more familiar I am. Sure enough, the director is Jean-Pierre Genet, whose masterpiece is "Angel Amelie". His films have their own shooting mode and expression, and I don't think I can explain it in precise words yet. And this use of saturated colors, combined with the western beauty along the train, has a feeling of being intoxicated by the scenery, a children's version of a road movie.
A passage in The Little Prince goes like this: "If you say to grown-ups, 'I see a beautiful house of rose-colored bricks, with geraniums in the windows and doves on the roof... . . . ' They can never imagine how good such a house is. It is necessary to say to them: 'I see a house worth a hundred thousand francs.' Then they exclaim: 'What a beautiful house!'" This is the difference between the thinking patterns of children and adults. Therefore, the difficulty of making a children's film is that the mature and sophisticated adults have to return to a pure and immature child's heart to look at the world. Fortunately, the director of "Angel Amelie" did it in "The Strange Journey of Young Speyway". Whether it's "Angel Emily" or "The Strange Journey of Young Speyway", their journeys belong to a journey of the soul. This is also the difference between Hollywood and European films. If you switch to the Hollywood commercial film model, TS will become a journey of adventure, danger, thriller, novelty and magic, so that everyone can achieve a sense of satisfaction in the stimulation again and again. But the director didn't do this in "The Strange Journey of Young Spey" (that's why I said there was a problem with the translation of the name), TS didn't encounter too much danger on the way, he was a gifted boy himself, Rigorous logical thinking and ingenuity allow him to cope with the troubles encountered on the road. During this journey, he was more of an experience and growth of his own soul.
TS is extremely sensitive. The trigger for his trip this time was the death of his younger brother. Although the family did not blame him, he felt the changes that death brought to each of them from the abnormality of the adults. Very self-blame, he felt that his brother's death was directly related to him. Although the parents didn't talk about it, their changes made him feel that the parents were actually blaming him in their hearts. So he chose to run away, he wanted to seek the approval of others for his genius invention. It's just that he was not as happy as he thought, and he also felt lonely. When he was recognized by the world, he found that their smiles at him were fake smiles. He is still not happy. Until the mother appeared, the mother told her personally: the death of the younger brother was not his fault. It wasn't intentional that his father didn't send him that morning, but he really didn't see it. TS finally let go. No matter how good the scenery outside is, it is not as good as your own home.
So, don't think that children don't know anything, their hearts are extremely fragile and sensitive.
