It's too hard to turn a famous book into a movie

Because I've read the book before, I don't want to discuss the story, I just want to talk about my views on the movie itself.

If you haven't read the book, the forty minutes after the movie should be amazing, because there are all kinds of coincidences. But the book is also written in this way, so, it is not worthy of praise, it can only be said to be loyal to the original work. But the plot of the first hour or so is really uninteresting. Some places are too fast-paced, and some places are inexplicable.

In fact, it is very difficult to adapt a famous novel into a movie, because there are so many plots that need to be weighed. The first time I saw Jane Eyre's films, I was disappointed, but I liked them more and more. But Great Expectations only took two hours to shoot, which is really short. I don't know how the hero and heroine love so deeply.

Another point is that the male protagonist is not as good-looking as Herbert. . He looks like a blacksmith when he wears a gentleman's clothes. Is this to faithfully shape the character? Magwitch and Joe are also more comfortable than the male lead. Estella is also not very stunning, she is still good-looking when she was a child. When Havisham said that Estella fascinated everyone who met her, I was expecting it, and was, um, disappointed.

All in all, there is a big difference between the movie and the book. Might as well make it into a TV show.

Great Expectations quotes

  • Jaggers: Estella is not the spider's reward. Estella is his punishment.

    Pip: And you arranged it.

  • Estella: Drummle died two years ago. He was kicking his horse, and the horse kicked back.

Pip: I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sorry for anything that brings you sorrow.

Estella: Well, rest assured, I feel none. My husband and I made each other perfectly miserable - just as intended. I have been bent and broken, but I hope into a better shape.
