"The Martyr": The Origin of All Goodness
This is a movie that I don't recommend to everyone, because it is too violent and bloody, and it is also too dark and mysterious; this is another movie that I can't put down. Watched the movie again a year later. I use this to explore the subtleties hidden in the depths of the human soul, and thus to know the evil and good, barbarism and civilization, suffering and belief in this world.

The movie starts with a girl who escaped from the devil's cave, and shows us a terrifying story with a few twists and turns. This girl who escaped from the devil's den was in a trance and had nightmares all night long. No one knew what she suffered. She (Lucy) meets a good friend Anna in the nursing home, but she never tells Anna about her painful experience. Fifteen years later, on an ordinary morning, a seemingly ordinary and peaceful family was suddenly brutally murdered by a woman. And this woman is Lucy, she told Anna, this is her enemy. It turned out that Lucy was detained by an underground organization and tortured. This underground religious organization collects many photos of people who have experienced suffering and are on the verge of death. The people in the photos are still alive, but their eyes are so detached that they don't know the existence of the body at all, as if they have seen the kingdom of heaven. The purpose of this organization is to create martyrs who can see the truth behind death. The process is as follows:

"Locked up to torture, torture, systematically, methodically, without mercy, step by step, the subject changes with the stages, and then, small psychological trauma, people see things that don't exist, ... They couldn't bear it, and in the end, only the corpse of the victim was left. Surviving is extremely rare, called a martyr. A martyr is another thing, a martyr is an exceptional existence. He survived after suffering and exploitation. Inflicted all evil on him, and finally, he transcended everything and saw the truth."

They experimented with many young girls, but unfortunately they could not survive. In the final stage, they had hallucinations, saw different terrifying things, and finally committed suicide. After Lucy killed her abusive family, she saw the monster who had tormented her for many years. She kept cutting her body with a wallpaper knife, and finally committed suicide by slitting her throat. Just when Anna was at a loss, a group of people rushed in and they caught Anna, the new subject.

From then on, the film began a 20-minute sadistic live broadcast. But the film does not attract attention with this, and there is no sense of show, but reveals a cruel truth: goodness is born out of evil, civilization is born out of barbarism, and faith is gained in suffering.

Evil and good are relative concepts, and it is in indifference and vendetta that people realize the beauty of care and forgiveness. This is just like the history of human development. People were tired of the bloody killings among tribes, and only thought of using benevolence or rules to live in harmony. Only then did civilization emerge. Shakyamuni experienced all calamities before he realized the Tao under the Bodhi tree and obtained the detachment of his soul. Anyone who has attained the Tao is someone who has been abused thousands of times by the world. Let's see how this organization progresses step by step, how to make Anna gradually let go of all the characteristics of being a "human": The

first step: imprisonment, handcuffing the brothers and feet with chains, depriving the "human" who is the leader of all spirits free.

Step 2: Forced to eat unbearable porridge, urinate on the seat, and humiliate the decency of a civilized person in modern society. Ancient and modern, at home and abroad, the arrangement of dining seats reflects the most expensive degree of guests. In the beginning, sitting at the table to eat and going to a private corner for convenience must be a great progress of human civilization. So the "unseemly" convenience of sitting on a seat with a round hole made Anna feel ashamed, and she wept bitterly.

The third step: beating, endless beating. Although the feeding was accompanied by slapping, there was a relatively concentrated slap. The purpose of this beating is to make you lose your strength and stubbornness as a person, so as to discover your own weakness and helplessness.

Step 4: Cut the hair. Cutting a girl's hair violently is the same as cutting a rooster's feathers and a man's genitals. According to Freud, sex is the driving force. This is probably true. Once this motivation is lost, the inner spirit of a person will be lost. Even a fierce horse loses its wildness immediately after its mane is cut. For girls, without beautiful hair, they lose the splendor of life and the meaning of life.

After that, it was beaten, beaten, beaten every day like going to work. Has the girl cried out in her heart: why is this? However, what why? Isn't it the same with your life and mine? Humans are born to suffer in this world for no reason. We find people caught up in disasters and upheavals yelling, "Oh my God, why is that?" Sorry, there's no why. We are abused in different ways, but we are equally deceived and self-deceived by ups and downs. The girl gradually began to heal herself, began to talk to herself, began to fantasize about talking to her best friend:

"Anna, I'm Lucy. Aren't you scared?"
"Sometimes. I can't be like you, I can't hold on. In the past. How can you not be afraid at all?"
"You have to let go of everything."
"Really?"
"Let go of everything. If you can't take it anymore, I'll come and pick you up."

The self-talk here includes two Level: First, persuade yourself to let go of everything. Let go of freedom, dignity, and all that is upheld by the flesh and human nature; second, go to another world. The so-called enlightenment is just to see it open. Looking at it, you can get the ease of this world, and it also makes up another world for yourself. In this way, suffering begets faith. We found that this logic is so true. If you don't believe me, you can also refer to Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" released in 2004. The film describes the story that happened within 12 hours before the martyrdom of Jesus, and the main content is that Jesus was beaten, abused, humiliated and finally crucified. Crucifixion experience. When you give up your body, only your clean soul is left. At the moment of dying, Jesus' eyes were full of compassion and tolerance for the world, and those eyes were so detached. You have given up all your wealth, your glory, your reputation, your flesh, and what can hold you? This kind of detachment of the soul is the realization of the Tao.

The girl started to let go. She cooperated with feeding, and no longer cried or struggled when she was beaten.
She is no longer afraid.

The body is no longer her. She began to live as a physical death.

Final Stage: She is skinned all over. She became a rare martyr for decades.

"She was completely liberated, detached, she saw nothing around her."

We see in her eyes a ray of light in the sky, slowly expanding in the darkness, radiating a holy light. There, is the kingdom of heaven.
