Their ears are broken, but they still have eyes, they can see the malice of this world; their vocal cords are broken, but they still have hearts, and their hearts are screaming all the time. Please let me go!
Sexual assault! Toddler!
I watched "The Furnace," and the fog of Mistjin filled the screen and covered my eyes. My heart is toasted by the helpless tears of children. Can't see, can hear, tears are still falling down.
The most heart-wrenching thing is that even at this moment when I am writing a film review, it is very likely that the exact same incident is happening in a cold toilet in China.
"The Furnace" is based on true events. It happened in Korea, but it also happened in the world at the same time.
What you need to understand is that film is art, and it must be artistically processed. The cold reality will only make you more frightened.
From 2000 to 2005, the principal of Renhe Special Education School for the Deaf and some teachers ganged up with each other, and committed sexual violence and abuse to the disabled children in the school for a long time. The insiders in the school were even more indifferent and tried their best to cover up the facts.
Heaven has eyes, and finally a teacher could not bear the suffering of conscience and told his lawyer friend about the crime. The teacher expects his friend to use the power of the law to punish the wicked and protect the children. How naive! Don't the rules of the world depend on that invisible but unbreakable web of relationships? The principal was powerful, and with an order, the teacher was assassinated, and several friends who assisted the lawyer also died inexplicably.
The ugly criminals, with a little bit of silver foil, bribed the procuratorate to cover the sky and the sun, and returned to their posts to continue killing young children.
The lawyer gave up a promising career, and after 7 years, overturned the case for the child victim. Finally, during a rights demonstration, the lawyer who suffered from cancer was knocked down by a high-pressure water gun and could never stand up from the wet and cold floor again. The victimized children were forcibly taken away from the orphanage. One of the boys wanted to avenge the teacher who violated him, and the two died together on the train tracks. Another human rights doctor left a suicide note of 30,000 words and committed suicide after repeated appeals to no avail.
The doctor's suicide note was circulated on the Internet, which finally caused a sensation in the society. Then the original novel of the event sold well and the movie was remade, which once again caused great social repercussions. Finally, the relevant government departments announced that the incident was overturned and investigated again.
In 2000, the cry of helpless children resounded through the long, narrow and gloomy corridors, and a horrific case of child sexual abuse was taking place at Inhwa Special Education School for the Deaf. Exposure; in November 2008, the novel of the same name was serialized on the Korean portal Daum; on September 22, 2011, the movie "The Furnace" was released in South Korea.
It has been 11 years since the incident.
In 11 years, the children of other families grew up step by step with their parents, hungry for fragrant meals, and cold and clean and comfortable clothes. During the same 11 years, the victim children hid in dark corners with their broken bodies, repeatedly experiencing the nightmare of humiliation. Is all this just because they are orphans? Just because they can't shout, can't hear? No, human nature is evil!
The world owes them more than just an apology.
On September 29, 2011, "The Furnace" was released for 7 days. Among the 40 teachers and staff of Renhe Special Education School for the Deaf and Mute, 1 was prosecuted for alleged sexual violence, 12 were not detained and prosecuted for allegedly offering bribes to a corporate legal person, 13 were notified to the institution where they worked, and the other 14 were prosecuted. Undergo an internal investigation.
On October 28, 2011, "The Furnace" was released for 29 days. The National Assembly of South Korea passed the Act on Partial Amendment of the Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (also known as the "Melting Pot Act").
On December 29, 2011, "The Furnace" was released for 68 days. The Gwangju District Attorney's Office has arrested another key person at the Inhwa Special Education School suspected of sexual violence against female students. On the same day, the Sentencing Committee of the Supreme Court of South Korea convened a plenary meeting and set up a new category of "sexual violence against persons with disabilities" in the category of sexual crimes. Compared with sexual crimes against non-disabled persons, the sentencing standard was increased from three years to five years.
At this point, the criminals were finally punished, and the sexual assault case at Renhe Special Education School ended.
The film "The Furnace" uses real footage to reproduce the scene of sexual assault, and uses the bloody reality to inspire thousands of waves of public opinion. Hearing and seeing, in front of the people who are too lazy to think, it is naturally the latter who has the power to strike.
Movies are movies. And those children who lived in the real case, they deserved to have a glorious childhood, but they will never come back. The lawyer's old face was pressed against the cold ground, and the doctor ended the hopeless rest of his life with a white cloth. Those who have suffered the most in this case will not necessarily be happy for the belated apology for the rest of their lives. The time that has passed will not come again, the broken body can no longer be repaired, and the despair of the soul can no longer be saved.
Rolling red dust, the most compassion.
