After Trauma - Comments on "Trust"

(There are some spoilers below)

This is a very tense story. Under the director David Schumer, who was an actor, the final completion is still OK.

First of all, a thumbs up to the casting director. In addition to the adult actors who are very stable candidates, Liana Liberato, who plays the heroine girl, has a very calm and concentrated performance, which reminds me of Jennifer Lawrence in "Winter's Bone", no wonder the 24th Chicago Film Critic The Society Awards gave her a nomination for Most Promising Actor. The girl's brother Peter, played by Spencer Curnutt, also feels like a very loving and warm big brother image, but unfortunately there are not many scenes in the film.

The pace of the story is pretty good. Just looking back, the rendering in the front is still a little less, which makes people wonder where the girl's loneliness comes from. The two characters, mother and brother, are still relatively vague. The last point is a bit deliberate.

The soundtrack hangs all the time, making people's hearts hang in their throats. Although it's appropriate most of the time, it's still a bit too much. The last intriguing little video, after Charlie looked directly at the camera for a short time, appeared a huge ending credits, accompanied by a Coldplay-style male solo, which felt good.

I'm curious about the arrangement of the stage play of the same name.

PS The reactions and measures after trauma are worth learning from, especially theraphy, it really helps.

Trust quotes

  • Gail Friedman: We can't control what happens to us or our loved ones. What happens when Annie goes to college?

    Will: What are you saying?

Gail Friedman: People get hurt. There's only so much we can do to protect ourselves, our children. The only thing we can do is be there for each other when we do fall down to pick each other up.

  • Will: Even if he was in jail I wouldn't be happy.

    Gail Friedman: Why?

Will: Because it would still want to rip his fucking head off.
