It's a long way from the first part, and I can't remember the story of the first part, but I can only remember that Blue and Pearl met and fell in love in the first part. But at the time, the first part gave me the urge to watch it a second time, and I didn't want to watch it a second time at all. It felt like a waste of time.
First of all, the biggest drawback of the movie is that it is no longer "suitable for all ages". The plot is simple and childish. It's just a trip that just goes on by two parrots in a moment of fever. The funny part seems to be young and boring, and it is entirely for the sake of being funny and deliberately pinching the jokes. The result is not funny and embarrassing. This is clearly not suitable for adults to watch. At the same time, a lot of love scenes are added in the film, which is not understandable to children. As a result, the positioning of the film is very awkward. Is it to lure families into the cinema en masse. Men and women, young and old, have their own fun?
Again, the film's plot tension is too weak. "Amazon Adventure", where did the word "adventure" come from? In addition to gazing at the fancy exhibition scenery, it is all about the struggle between parrots and people. The threat posed by human beings is not as great as the threat posed by "rich and handsome rivals in love". The crocodile, piranha and other elements that the audience are interested in appearing in the poster are not even qualified to play tricks in the film.
The climax turning part is portrayed pale and feeble. The father and daughter reunited after a long absence, this was the point where they could make some tears. As a result, it was passed in a "meeting and hugging each other" style, and the tears were wasted like this. I wanted to see Diaosi counterattack Gao Fushuai, but Gao Fushuai was frightened. The lumberjack drives a hook machine to face a large group of parrots. If it develops into the discovery of human conscience and a collective strike, and from then on, people and nature live in harmony, then this film can still be positioned as an environmental film. Unexpectedly, a fight broke out, and the bird beat the human being fat. This not only lowers the IQ of the film, but also wastes the opportunity to call for environmental protection and animal care.
The last time, the film wanted to highlight its own characteristics too much, and it ended up being nothing special. Musical animation has always been the main theme of animation development. "The Lion King" and "The Prince of Egypt" have become eternal classics in film and television with their stylized soundtracks. There's nothing wrong with RIO2 focusing on the music part. Just the focus is wrong. In the first part, as soon as Blue and Pearl meet, no language is needed, and the background music plays Ritchie's "Say You Say Me", and the theme of love is immediately presented and sublimated. After so many years, I still remember this classic scene in my heart. And "RIO2" I just finished watching it the day before yesterday, I've already forgotten which parts are expressed with music. Can only think of it as if a tree frog confessed to the parrot again by singing? It is rare for Hathaway to make a sound, but it is used to express such a boring and unreasonable gimmick.
The musical about the birds contending in the forest is really good.
Although the parrot is the protagonist, it is not a human after all. Over-anthropomorphizing parrots can only backfire. The age group of the film is lowered, and the spirituality and cuteness of birds are lost. In the end, adults don't like to watch it, and little friends can't understand it. The focus is on pranks, ignoring the original intention of environmental protection.
Who is the villain in the movie? Humans don't seem to be as good as that monkey. The white parrot staged the prince's revenge, but was robbed by the nympho tree frog.
I would love to ask the director "what exactly do you want the audience to see"?
