The happiness I think is to take a nap with a beloved woman on a weekend with heavy rain. When I was watching The Postman, I suddenly had this idea that I had since middle school.
"The Postman" is an Italian film directed by Michael Ledford. It also has a name that I don't like very much, "Previously Publicized Courtship". It tells the story of a small island in southern Italy in the 1950s. The story of the postman and the poet that happened. Michael Ledford has directed other films, including an adaptation of George Orwell's famous book Nineteen Eighty-Four.
The hero, Mario, is a postman. One morning, he gets a job delivering letters every day for the exiled poet Neruda, who is so much admired by everyone. He bought a collection of poets and practiced over and over again in front of the mirror: Can you sign my name for me? I understand this feeling. In my sophomore year, I was in charge of sending and receiving emails for the entire department. In order to send a letter to a girl I liked, I dressed up and waited for half an hour, only to see her Coming downstairs in a pyjama with disheveled hair, similar to when Mario met Neruda. As a thank you, the girl handed me two candied green plums, just like Neruda later gave Mario a little tip.

It is very interesting to name the heroine "Beatrice". Neruda was stunned when he heard Mario say the name, and blurted out: Dante! Legend has it that the love of poet Dante's life was also called Beatrice, but then Beatrice married a banker, and Dante married someone else.
So this is destined to be a movie about poetry. It proves once again that a man in love can become a poet. Mario broke into Neruda's room for help because he was in love with Beatrice, and he said: "I'm in love. The poet said: Rest assured, there is an antidote. He said: No, no antidote, I'm going to be sick forever! He then asked the poet to write a love poem for him. Neruda refused his unreasonable request. For the first time, he showed the free will that Neruda admired and expressed his resistance: If such a poem If it can stum you, you can't even win that Nobel Prize.
Before that, when asking Neruda for his autograph, Mario didn't use his rehearsed lines, but asked: Can you make it different?

The island is a remote fishing village with no running water pipes, and the water supply boats come only once a month. A short ladder connects the pier and the village. The houses are high and low, the color is lighter than the steep mountain wall, and there is a transparent sky in the distance. The fishermen were busy going out to sea, and the beaches were inaccessible for listening with the third ear, where Neruda recited To the Sea for Mario.
Beatrice's aunt and priest at the church were moved to tears at their wedding despite doing their best to keep Mario and Beatrice from being together. It's exactly what I've been looking for in a good place for a nap: people fiddle with each other, but soon forget their feud.
When Mario later wrote in the notebook Neruda gave him, "You are naked like the night on the island, the stars are hiding in your hair", Mario is no different from the poet. In the end, he completed an incomparable book and gave it to Neruda. The catalogue is: the waves in the bay, the wind in the bushes, the church bells, the fetal sound of Pabli...
There are also Italian compositions that cannot be ignored in the film. Home Luis Bakarov's soundtrack, guitars, violins and other instruments are completely integrated with natural sounds such as wind and waves to form a symphonic ensemble. Massimo Trossi is the perfect choice to play Mario the postman. His dark expression is shy and sincere, and he sits with his feet tucked in and his head bowed most of the time. Sadly, Massimo Trosi died suddenly of a heart attack 12 hours after finishing the film. This movie is a swan song for Mario and Massimo!

Thank you to the rascal who sent me this film. The voice the postman recorded for Nenuda by the sea, really. .

The soul-stirring poetry movie, the simple island, the Chilean fugitive poet and the small-town postman interpret a friendship that transcends nationality and class. The belief in communism and the obsession with poetry make this ordinary young man shine in a different light, but it's a pity The ending and reality are very sad.

The Postman quotes

  • Mario Ruoppolo: I'll only ask him to sign this book. That's all, so when I get paid I'll go to Naples and show all the girls that I'm a friend of Neruda, the poet of love.

Postmaster: The poet of the people.

  • Pablo Neruda: When I was a senator of the republic I went to visit the pampas, a region where it only rains once every fifty years, where life is unimaginably hard. I wanted to meet the people who had voted for me. One day at Lota there was a man who had come up from a coal mine. He was a mask of coal dust and sweat, his face contorted by terrible hardship, his eyes red from the dust. He stretched out his calloused hand and said: "Wherever you go, speak of this torment. Speak of your brother who lives underground in hell." I felt I had to write something to help man in his struggle, to write the poetry of the mistreated. That's how "Canto General" came about. Now my comrades tell me they have managed to get it published secretly in Chile and it's selling like hot cakes. That makes me very happy.
