Chaos that cannot be avoided

I love this movie, but really don't like the heroine Katherine.

Don't tell me that she dares to love, dare to hate, and is unrestrained. These are all compliments.

Isn't her tragedy worthy of sympathy? Why sympathize, she is a typical example of self-destruction, and she also pulled a person into the water together.

The beauty she showed in the film was when the three first met. First of all, she is a beautiful woman (at least she is beautiful in the film), plus her little naughty and unpredictable, at that time Catherine was like a mysterious goddess emitting a hazy light . This elusive beauty is easy to be fascinated by, after all, most mortals have a natural curiosity that needs to be satisfied. Needless to say, the two close friends were already full of fascination and longing for the statue of the beautiful Greek woman.

And Catherine is the incarnation of the statue to satisfy the pursuit of their desires.

However, after marrying Jim, she gradually walked into the enchantment she drew, rubbing her mental and emotional state into a chaotic mess, and she couldn't get out and couldn't be approached. Maybe it's just some depression and dissatisfaction with the mundane life. As the days go by, Fang also piles up and erupts into a near-crazy paranoia. She began to challenge life constantly.

At this time, Katherine broke into a tropical fish tank like a sharp shark.

Jules' free and easy romantic male charm is fascinating, Jim's simple and sensitive temperament can't help but pity, and Catherine used to be a naughty and beautiful elf. None of the three of them has made any mistakes in life, but they have suffered directly or indirectly from each other for so many years.

Is life tormenting them? no.

This is a war started by Catherine, but no one side of the war can ever win unscathed, or is there a winning side in the war? Like a narration at the end of the film: "Did Katherine have any fun in this war? No, she made a mess of Zu's life. Her death gave him a sense of relief."

Overall, I appreciate it Jim's innocence and selflessness also admire Jim's love for Katherine, but I don't support or accept it.

And the beauty that runs through the film from beginning to end is the friendship between Jules and Jim. After two wars, they still cherish each other and are still each other's best friends. Impressed just thinking about it.

BTW
's favorite scene is when Catherine said, "I've never laughed like this before I met you two." Perhaps it is because of these few close-ups of Katherine's face that not only her frowns and smiles were fixed on the screen, but also in the eyes of the audience, and in the hearts of Jules and Jim.

Well, the truth is that Katherine also conquered me at this time.

The pen of God.

I am not afraid that you will fail me, I am afraid that love will fail me.

Probably the most famous triangular relationship in the history of world cinema, Truffaut subdued me with vivid cinematic language. Passion is a raging fire, and love is the ashes after the fire burns out. You have to accept its reluctance and get used to its capriciousness. If the audience starts to think: Is their love ethical? So what the film wants to ask back is: Does love have a standard form? Love should be free, leading to the deep desire of the soul.

Jules and Jim quotes

  • Catherine: One always feels guilty in a hotel room. I may not be very moral, but I have no taste for secrecy.

  • Catherine: I'll think no more of you so that you'll stop thinking of me.
