The story of Feynman and Alain

Trystan 2022-03-26 09:01:06

Feynman's wife, Allen, had tuberculosis, and Feynman couldn't do anything about it. At the time he was participating in the Manhattan Project to build the atomic bomb for the United States. He could only go to the hospital every weekend to visit his wife, watching her emaciated and dying. When Alian died, Feynman didn't feel any sadness, feeling that it was a relief for her after a long period of pain, and he himself was already numb. The book says that one day a long time later, he happened to see a set of women's clothes in the shop window on the street, and subconsciously thought: how good Alian would look in it. Then, the great sadness hit him uncontrollably, and he finally burst into tears.
