Although I don't watch Hong Kong movies very much, the nostalgic taste is blowing in my face. Hua's not small but shabby house in downtown Kowloon is westernized but life is not as comfortable as in the West. This is Hong Kong; billiards win money, in big Food stalls for supper; I got married with abalone and shark fins, but ate on the terrace to save money; in the 1980s, it was a period of shark fin fishing, but the wedding gift of 100 was considered high.
What confuses you is the name, Carmen, that is the name of a woman who wanders around with many bloody men. Who is Carmen here? Could it be Hua? The fly also begged him: Don't be so nice to me. Maybe this name is just the fledgling Wong Kar-wai who used ambiguous names to attract audiences.
Of course, there are plenty of unconscionable moments in the movie, but the name is the most confusing.
Ps. Maggie Cheung is 23 at this time, why is there a mouth line of forty.
