fighter for human rights

This is the first film in my gender/gender studies class.

The teacher said that the progress of human ideology and culture has been exchanged through the war of resistance from generation to generation. And now we understand that gender equality, racial equality, and even respect for homosexuality are just enjoying the fruits of their predecessors. We are too easily influenced by the environment, and we view things with prejudice and prejudice, and we don’t even recognize it or notice it at all. In fact, these unreasonable thoughts have already subtly affected us, affecting our aesthetics, judgment, choices, etc. Wait.

Going back to the movie, when I saw the suicide of the protagonist Bobby, I felt that the death was too hasty. After seeing it, I realized that Bobby was only the beginning of the movie, and the real content and climax was the change of her mother. A mother who hurt her son because of her love's paranoia did not wake up until she experienced her son's parting. Such a change is the best part of the film, from the struggle of ego to the struggle of society. The change of a mother is also the change the film hopes for its stereotyped audience. Bobby is not sick at all, and homosexuality is not a sin.

At the end of the film, when Bobby's mother gave a speech and joined the parade, she was deeply moved. Love should not be a cage, we should give freedom to those we love and give true understanding instead of imposing our own right and wrong preferences. As long as human nature is kind and sincere, it is human nature and human right to choose whether to love the same sex or the opposite sex, and how to live with contempt!

Prayers for Bobby quotes

  • Mary Griffith: To all the Bobbys and Janes out there, I say these words to you as I would my own precious children. Please don't give up hope on life, or yourselves. You're very special to me, and I'm working very hard to make this life a better and safer place for you to live in. Promise me you'll keep trying. Bobby gave up on love, I hope you won't. You're always in my thoughts.

  • Jeanette: They should love the son no matter what the sin. Hey, that's good! I'm gonna start my own bible.
